About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Software Lead to join our growing team in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will own the design and delivery of scalable, secure backend services for our authentication and identity platforms. You'll set the technical bar for a distributed engineering team, guide architecture and code quality, and partner closely with Product, Security, and Platform to ship features that protect our customers' most sensitive transactions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performing services and REST APIs.
  • Provide technical leadership for a distributed team through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring.
  • Drive scalability, reliability, and security across distributed systems.
  • Partner with Product, Security, and Platform teams to deliver high-impact features.
  • Champion best practices for zero-downtime deployments, observability, and system resilience.
  • Drive adoption of AI coding tools across the team to improve development velocity and quality.
  • Present and demonstrate product value and capabilities to internal stakeholders and external audiences.

What You'll Bring

  • 12+ years of software product development experience, delivering products used at scale by customers.
  • 7+ years of experience as a technical lead for product development teams.
  • Proven experience with identity and authentication platforms.
  • Strong expertise in Java, distributed systems, and API design.
  • Experience with zero-downtime deployments and production-grade systems.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based deployments.

Preferred:

  • Experience using, and leading teams in using, AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as part of the development workflow.

Salary: $175,000 - $225,000 (depending on experience and qualifications).
