Lead Moxie’s strategic finance function: own forecasting, GMV modeling, budget-vs-actual and variance analysis, build dashboards and processes, partner with cross-functional leaders, and support strategic initiatives including tech rollouts and M&A.

At Moxie, we empower ambitious aesthetic entrepreneurs to build profitable, independent practices—without burnout, overwhelm, or guesswork. In just a few years, we've grown from an idea to a global, remote-first team now supporting 700+ practices nationwide.

Our purpose is simple: to unlock sustainable success for aesthetic entrepreneurs, at every stage of their journey.

Moxie's finance function exists to make sure the company is set up to win over the long term — and the Principal, Strategic Finance is where that work starts. As we scale in a high-growth market, the questions in front of us (where to invest, how quickly to hire, which motions to double down on, how to close the gap between forecast and reality) all come down to the numbers, and this person will be the analytical force behind those decisions.

Reporting to our CFO, you'll partner with leaders across the business to evaluate strategic investments, size growth opportunities, and put data-driven recommendations in front of the people making the call.

Beyond budgeting and forecasting, you'll own the operating model, GMV analysis, pricing work, M&A support, and the executive and board-level reporting that keeps leadership grounded in where we actually stand. This isn't a reporting seat buried in month-end close — it's the role that turns financial rigor into recommendations leadership acts on, giving Moxie the visibility and discipline to grow responsibly and make faster, better-informed calls as we scale.

Our Objectives for the Role

  • Prepare executive and board-level financial reporting, delivering variance analyses, scenario modeling, and actionable insights that enable senior leadership to assess business performance and evaluate strategic opportunities — and proactively flag emerging trends or risks before they show up as a miss

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, partnering with department leaders across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Practice Operations, Product, Tech, People, and BizOps to prioritize investments, allocate resources, and support strategic decision-making

  • Take over ownership of our GMV forecasting model, partnering with BizOps to finalize methodology and data, and maintain it on an ongoing basis — including cohort-based modeling of provider launch performance and rate/volume decomposition of variances

  • Develop recommendations on capital allocation, customer economics, and pricing, including opportunities to reduce cost to serve and improve unit economics as the business scales

  • Partner closely with our Controller and the Accounting, RevOps, and Data teams to ensure strategic recommendations are supported by accurate data

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to automate workflows and leverage AI-enabled tools to accelerate output and insights — including faster budget-vs-actual analysis, live departmental spend dashboards, and documented ROI frameworks, plus rollout of our strategic finance tech stack and the integrity of the data running through it

We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience spanning investment banking, private equity, consulting, and high-growth startup finance

  • A highly analytical background, with at least one prior experience building or leading strategic finance functions at a startup

  • Someone who's able to operate as both the analyst and the advisor — equally comfortable building detailed models as they are influencing board narratives, planning cycles, and capital allocation decisions

  • A self-starter who can operate independently, build trust with cross-functional leaders, and drive process improvements rather than simply inheriting and maintaining them

  • Someone excited to make finance a strategic partner across the company, not a back-office function

Why Join Us?

  • Take ownership of the core financial infrastructure — forecasting, budget-vs-actual, ROI analysis — that determines how confidently Moxie can grow, and shape how the company understands its own trajectory

  • Your analysis will directly influence what gets funded and shape our growth story

  • Work alongside leaders who treat finance as a thought partner, where your read on the numbers carries real weight in the room

At Moxie, we believe in creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, trusted, and included. Our team lives by our values: act as owners, give more than we take, move with speed and care, and simplify and learn every day.

We welcome people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to apply. If you require any accommodations to fully participate in the interview process, please let us know, we’re happy to assist.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
