Role

We are looking for a Principal Technical Marketing Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role, based in San Jose, CA or remote within the USA, reporting to the Zero Trust Cloud product management team. As the lead Principal TME for the Zero Trust Cloud team, you will be the definitive technical authority and storyteller for Zscaler’s Cloud Workloads portfolio. You will translate complex cloud security innovations into high-impact architectures and narratives that drive global market adoption across both internal teams and external customers.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

  • Own technical messaging and reference architectures for macro use cases with Zscaler Zero Trust Gateway across AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and private clouds
  • Drive adoption of micro use cases by showcasing Zscaler Microsegmentation policy automation for virtual machines and Kubernetes environments
  • Deliver global technical evangelism by serving as the primary technical storyteller, producing whitepapers, blueprints, and competitive guides to support high-priority customer and field engagements

Who You Are (Success Profile)

  • You thrive in ambiguity. You're comfortable building the path as you walk it, navigating dynamic environments, and seeing ambiguity as the raw material to build something meaningful.
  • You act like an owner. Your passion for the mission fuels your bias for action, and you navigate seamlessly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
  • You are customer-obsessed. You build deep empathy for the customer—both internal and external—and anchor your decisions in solving their real-world problems.
  • You are a positive force. You approach hard problems with constructive energy and a 'can-do' spirit that is contagious, inspiring your team to stay focused on the solution.
  • You think at scale. You connect your day-to-day work to the larger company mission, thinking globally to build solutions and processes that are built to last and support high growth.

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
  • 8+ years of experience in Technical Marketing, Product Management, or Systems Engineering, with a focus on cloud-native security
  • Deep technical expertise in multi-cloud networking and security across AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and private cloud/on-premises data center architectures
  • Technical knowledge of Kubernetes (K8s) container networking, microsegmentation, and building/enforcing policy models
  • Strong understanding of enterprise network security concepts, specifically Layer 4-7 firewalls, proxy architectures, and ZIA/SSE

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Proven ability to leverage AI technologies and workflows to drive measurable operational efficiency
  • Proven track record as a "single-threaded" or sole TME lead, demonstrating self-direction and the ability to build a technical marketing program from scratch
  • Outstanding public speaking and technical content creation skills, with a portfolio of high-quality whitepapers, architectural blueprints, or videos
  • Active industry certifications in public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) or Kubernetes (e.g., CKA)
