  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard national parcel carriers, regional delivery companies, and e-commerce-focused last-mile providers
  • Build and expand a diversified carrier network to support different shipment profiles, delivery zones, volume requirements, service levels, and cost targets.
  • Develop direct relationships with carrier headquarters, regional management teams, and local operating partners to secure competitive pricing and reliable capacity.
  • Evaluate emerging last-mile providers and alternative delivery solutions to improve coverage, flexibility, delivery speed, and cost efficiency.

2. Strategic Sourcing, Negotiation & Cost Optimization

  • Lead complex commercial negotiations covering parcel rates, zone-based pricing, dimensional weight, fuel and residential surcharges, delivery accessorials, service-level agreements (SLAs), volume commitments, and payment terms.
  • Develop data-driven pricing models and conduct detailed cost comparisons across carriers, service types, shipping zones, and package profiles.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce shipping costs through carrier mix optimization, volume consolidation, rate restructuring, contract renegotiation, and alternative delivery solutions.
  • Establish standardized sourcing, RFQ/RFP, bid evaluation, contracting, and approval processes.
  • Balance cost savings with delivery quality, capacity reliability, claims exposure, and customer experience.

3. Carrier Performance & Supplier Management

  • Establish a structured carrier management framework covering onboarding, performance evaluation, tiering, incentives, corrective actions, and supplier exit mechanisms.
  • Monitor key metrics, including on-time delivery, first-attempt delivery success, delivery exceptions, loss and damage rates, claims, tracking visibility, and cost per package.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with strategic carriers and lead corrective action plans to address service failures, capacity constraints, billing discrepancies, and other operational issues.
  • Partner with operations and customer service teams to resolve major delivery disruptions and maintain service continuity during peak seasons and volume fluctuations.

4. Domestic Transportation & Integrated Logistics Procurement

  • Support sourcing and optimization of U.S. domestic trucking and middle-mile transportation resources, including FTL/LTL and other transportation solutions, as required by business needs.
  • Evaluate opportunities to integrate middle-mile transportation with last-mile delivery networks to improve end-to-end efficiency and total logistics cost.
  • Monitor carrier pricing, capacity, network expansion, industry consolidation, regulatory changes, and emerging delivery models.
  • Develop contingency plans and alternative carrier resources to mitigate service disruptions, capacity shortages, and supplier concentration risks.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Development

  • Collaborate with logistics operations, sales, finance, legal, compliance, and regional/global procurement teams to align sourcing strategies with business growth and service requirements.
  • Translate business forecasts and shipment characteristics into actionable carrier sourcing plans, pricing strategies, and capacity commitments.
  • Establish procurement dashboards, reporting mechanisms, and standardized tools to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Share U.S. market insights and procurement best practices with headquarters and international teams to support scalable global transportation procurement standards.

About You:
