Who we are:

Aro Homes is a thriving, purpose-driven company on a mission to redefine residential construction. Aro Homes was founded to create well designed, precision engineered homes that are beautiful, livable, and durable, while being built multiple times faster and having a positive impact on the environment.

We are a diverse and experienced group of passionate and curious designers, builders, engineers, product developers, and businesspeople who are passionate about and committed to delivering on our mission. We’ve demonstrated there is a massive opportunity to reduce waste and improve sustainability while building homes in a fraction of the time it takes traditionally. We utilize a repeatable, multi-disciplinary, and product-driven approach which is unique in the industry. We are funded by world-class investors who care about transforming industries for the better, including Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors. If you share the desire to leave a lasting positive impact on the world and to join a strong culture of intelligent, passionate people, then let’s start a conversation.

What you will be responsible for:

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on engineer to be Aro’s engineering presence in the field. Aro Homes are precision engineered in a factory and assembled on tight infill lots, and the field is where the documentation meets reality. When a crew hits a question, a conflict, or a site condition the drawings didn't anticipate, you are the person who answers it. You will own the field's inbound queue end to end: every question gets an answer, a fix, or an explicit no on a committed timeline, and nothing sits unanswered for months.

This is a problem-solver role that cuts across disciplines. You need to read architectural, structural, and MEPF documentation fluently, understand how a change in one ripples into the others, and know when to make the edit yourself versus when to pull in a discipline owner. You will make real changes with your own hands: Bluebeam redlines on released sets, BOM and work order corrections, Field Installation Drawing and Field Kit updates. And you will carry field reality back into the product, so the same problem never has to be solved twice.

This position is based in the field. Expect daily time on active job sites in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, regular time at our Mountain View office, and periodic visits to our Sacramento plant.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the field's questions: Serve as first-line engineering response for superintendents and crews across all active homes, with a committed answer-or-escalate standard measured in days, not months.

  • Solve problems at the house: Walk the condition, diagnose it across architectural, structural, and MEPF scopes, and determine the fix.

  • Make the edits: Execute redlines in Bluebeam, correct BOMs and work orders, and update FIDs and Field Kits, then propagate those changes to every affected home so no one builds from stale documents.

  • Route what you shouldn't decide: Triage issues that need a discipline owner or an engineering judgment call, hand them off with full field context, and stay on them until they close.

  • Feed the product: Convert recurring field issues into well-documented change requests with photos and context, and advocate for the field's priorities inside engineering.

  • Verify the loop closes: Confirm implemented changes actually resolved the issue on the next home through assembly and finish.

  • Support assembly weeks: Be present for module set and critical stages, where fast answers protect the schedule.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years in construction, field engineering, or a closely related role; time as a field engineer, superintendent, APM, or project engineer at a builder or GC is a huge plus.

  • Fluency reading architectural, structural, and MEP construction documents, and the judgment to work across all three.

  • A track record of closing things out. You chase answers, you don't wait for them.

  • Strong Bluebeam skills and comfort working in BIM viewers, BOMs, and structured documentation systems; Revit or Onshape exposure a plus.

  • Clear, fast, written and verbal communication with crews, subs, and engineers alike.

  • Offsite, modular, or production homebuilding experience a plus.

  • Willingness to jump in and provide support across the company outside of domain expertise.

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to join an outstanding start-up team and grow a purpose –driven company from the ground up.

  • Competitive salary package.

  • Medical/dental/vision benefits.

  • Equity in the company.

At Aro Homes, we are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation to fill out an application, please do not hesitate to let us know at [email protected]. If you’re excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
