ABOUT BASETEN

Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma and Writer. By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F, led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to to ship AI products.

THE ROLE

Product at Baseten is a nascent function. Our company today has a strong engineering culture, is heavily customer-obsessed, and moves fast. We're building the product function now, and you'd be one of the people who defines it. You'll work directly with our founders and with some of the best systems and infrastructure engineers in the world, and you'll set the standard for what product looks like here. You earn trust by being technical, finding the truth in front of customers, building great cross-functional relationships, and shipping great product experiences.

The largest, most demanding Enterprises are starting to run on Baseten, and they come with a range of security, compliance, and procurement requirements. Today that readiness is assembled deal-by-deal. You'll own the enterprise-readiness surface end to end and turn it into product: the deployment options customers can choose and buy, compliance posture they can trust, access and security controls their IT teams require, and the billing and spend controls their finance teams expect. What does a complete Baseten Enterprise product offering look like?

You'll thrive here if you like getting deep in the technical details, if you see compliance, security, and billing as real product surfaces worth designing well, and if you'd rather build the product that ends one-off exceptions than negotiate them deal by deal. This role is for someone who genuinely enjoys Enterprise, and who finds satisfaction in making the hardest customers in the market successful.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the enterprise readiness customer experience end to end. Partner with GTM and Enterprise Engineering to make "enterprise-ready" a platform-wide capability, so readiness becomes a supported, priced product instead of bespoke work assembled per deal.

  • Own product vision and roadmap. See around the curve on what regulated customers will require, including deployment models, compliance posture, identity and access, and billing and spend controls, and build ahead of the need.

  • Be the Enterprise customer voice. Turn deal-blocking requirements from Sales and FDE into product, so a steady stream of one-off exceptions becomes a smaller set of sellable, supported capabilities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years in product management, with real depth in enterprise or B2B infrastructure across security, compliance, identity, networking, or billing.

  • Experience shipping the enterprise readiness surface: multi-cloud and multi-region deployments, SSO/RBAC, SOC 2/HIPAA, VPC/PrivateLink, and usage-based billing, with shipped products you can point to publicly.

  • Credibility in the room with security, compliance, and procurement buyers, and with the engineers who build for them.

  • A bias toward supported, priced products over per-deal exceptions, and a clear sense of the difference between a feature and a sellable capability.

  • Rigorous research habits that let customer and deal reality drive the call, paired with a relentless shipping instinct.

NICE TO HAVE

  • ML infrastructure experience.

  • Experience selling into or building for regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, or government.

BENEFITS

  • Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity.

  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents

  • Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break (our offices are closed from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day!)

  • Paid parental leave

  • Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot

  • Company-facilitated 401(k)

  • Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.

Apply now to embark on a rewarding journey in shaping the future of AI! If you are a motivated individual with a passion for machine learning and a desire to be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.

At Baseten, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, or veteran status.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable law (by example, the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, where applicable).

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
