Mapbox is the leading real-time location platform for a new generation of location-aware businesses. Mapbox is the only platform that equips organizations with the full set of tools to power the navigation of people, packages, and vehicles everywhere. More than 4 million registered developers have chosen Mapbox because of the platform’s flexibility, security and privacy compliance. Organizations use Mapbox applications, data, SDKs and APIs to create customized and immersive experiences that delight their customers.

What We Do

Whether you’re ordering on DoorDash, navigating in a BMW, checking the forecast on The Weather Channel, or sending snaps on Snapchat, Mapbox powers the location experiences within the apps and products people use every day. As the developer platform for live location, we’re evolving how people interact with maps and location data, including bringing AI-powered capabilities into our products to create smarter, more dynamic experiences.

The Maps team builds services that reach approximately 750 million monthly active users, collecting ~318 million miles of location and navigation data per day. We help developers create and share maps that reflect the complexity of our ever-changing world and see exciting opportunities leveraging AI to make maps more intelligent, accessible, and powerful.

What You'll Do

As a Product Manager II on the Maps team, you will own how AI shows up in Mapbox Maps: the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of AI-powered capabilities across the Maps (Web, iOS, Android), from natural-language map interaction to AI-assisted styling and contextual map intelligence.

You will partner with a globally distributed engineering team, external customers, and stakeholders across Sales, Engineering, Legal, Marketing, and Finance to explore emerging AI capabilities, translate customer needs into better product experiences, and ship solutions that drive customer success and business growth. You’ll bring an AI-forward mindset to both strategy and execution, turning new technologies into practical, scalable capabilities for developers and the end users they serve.

You can expect to:

  • Define and execute end-to-end vision and strategy for your product.

  • Conduct analysis to inform your product roadmap and prioritize product backlog.

  • Work with your engineering team(s) and the broader organization to explore and implement new use cases for your product that address customer pain points and unlock new revenue opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product goals and delivery phases with overall business objectives.

  • Regularly engage with our customers to understand their needs, as well as validate our proposed solutions.

  • Own pricing and packaging of your product as a standalone SKU (including sales enablement, marketing, customer trials, partnership opportunities).

  • Become the expert and point of contact of your product for internal and external questions, feedback, and requests.

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
  •  3+ years of experience as a Product Manager: You have seen multiple products (API, SDK, or Data) through a full lifecycle of discovery, development, launch, and adoption in the B2B space.

  • Customer focus: You care deeply about your customer’s problems with a keen eye towards design and user experience.

  • An analytical approach: You have strong data analytics skills and always use data to properly evaluate the quality of your product, as well as guide your next steps.

  • Prioritization: You have clear rationale behind the tradeoffs you make and strive to deliver immediate/tangible value to customers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: You can communicate about complex ideas concisely to a wide audience (e.g. FAQs and business cases for your roadmap).

  • Ownership: You can develop and execute a plan based on high level direction for feature or product development.

  • Invent & Simplify: You drive toward the simplest possible solution that drives the most value for customers.

  • Technical Chops: You understand and can explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

  • Go-to-market experience: You have taken your product to market owning the pricing and packaging strategy.

  • Nice-to-haves: Experience working with AI/ML teams and passion for the mapping or navigation domain space.

What We Value

In addition to our core values, which are not unique to this position and are necessary for Mapbox leaders:

  • We value high-performing creative individuals who dig into problems and opportunities.

  • We believe in individuals being their whole selves at work. We commit to this through supportive health care, parental leave, flexibility for the things that come up in life, and innovating on how we think about supporting our people.

  • We emphasize an environment of teaching and learning to equip employees with the tools needed to be successful in their function and the company.

  • We strongly believe in the value of growing a diverse team and encourage people of all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, abilities, and sexual orientations to apply.

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $150,025 - $202,975 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
