About the role and team

Product at Uber means making decisions without perfect information—and owning the outcomes. As a Product Manager II, you will turn complex problems into clear priorities, work across teams, and lead through influence.

You will join Mobility Matching, the team that builds how Uber connects riders and drivers. Matching involves real-time decisions that balance rider wait times, pickup efficiency, and driver choice. You will help build systems that navigate these trade-offs to improve the experience for riders and drivers and support a healthy marketplace.

What you’ll do

  • Build a product vision and roadmap for your area of Mobility Matching. Identify near- and long-term initiatives that balance global scale with local market needs.
  • Align Engineering, Design, Data Science, and Operations around clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
Translate rider and driver needs into product requirements, testable hypotheses, and clear success metrics.
Build and improve matching products, such as trip offers, driver preferences, and dispatch systems that respond to changes in rider demand and driver availability.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data Science to turn predictions and optimization models into product improvements. Make explicit tradeoffs between time to match, pickup ETA, driver choice, and marketplace efficiency.
  • Use research, marketplace data, and experiments to improve results. Assess the effects on completed trips, rider wait times, driver acceptance, and driver time spent without a rider.
  • Own delivery from problem definition through launch and iteration. Manage technical dependencies and account for how a change affects other riders, drivers, and matching products.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a Product Manager, with a track record of shipping successful consumer products or platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects with a measurable impact on product or business outcomes.
  • Experience defining unclear problems, identifying obstacles, and independently driving work forward.
  • Strong technical understanding of software systems. Able to work with engineers on requirements, system constraints, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across Engineering, Data Science, and Design, and managing dependencies with other teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience defining success metrics, assessing product health, and designing and interpreting A/B tests.
  • Ability to guide design decisions and use research to improve rider and driver experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical or quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces, matching, dispatch, recommendations, or optimization.
  • Ability to translate predictions, models, and technical tradeoffs into clear product decisions.
  • Experience designing experiments in systems where a change affects both sides of a marketplace.
  • Experience building products that connect software decisions to physical operations, such as transportation, delivery, or logistics.
  • Experience owning a product area from strategy through execution, with limited guidance.
  • Clear communication of decisions, results, risks, and root causes to technical and non-technical partners.
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to product hiring.
