Manage the vision and roadmap for Semantic Search and AI-driven interactions on Datadog, focusing on user intent and improving search experiences.
The summary above was generated by AI

As the Product Manager for Semantic & Agentic Search, you will own the systems that translate user intent, expressed in natural language, into precise, high-quality interactions across the Datadog platform. This role focuses on enabling users to find, explore, and act on observability and security data using AI-powered semantic understanding rather than rigid query syntax or navigation paths.

As Datadog continues to expand in breadth and depth, discovering the right data, services, insights, or actions becomes increasingly complex. Semantic search and intent understanding are foundational capabilities that power natural language queries (NLQ), AI-driven navigation, recommendations, and agentic search experiences where systems iteratively refine queries, invoke tools, and adapt based on intermediate results. You will work across logs, metrics, traces, security, notebooks, and platform surfaces to ensure user intent is correctly inferred, disambiguated, and fulfilled.

This is an opportunity to define how millions of engineers interact with Datadog through natural language. Your work will shape the quality, trustworthiness, and usability of AI-driven experiences across the product, directly impacting adoption, engagement, and customer satisfaction.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for Semantic Search, Natural Language Querying, and agentic search experiences across the Datadog platform.
  • Define how user intent is captured, classified, and routed to the correct data sources, tools, or workflows.
  • Partner closely with Applied Science and Engineering to design and ship intent models, semantic retrieval systems, ranking strategies, and iterative search behaviors that can invoke tools and refine results.
  • Drive improvements in query interpretation, disambiguation, relevance, and recall for AI-powered search, NLQ experiences, including those used within agent-driven workflows.
  • Establish success metrics for intent accuracy, query execution rate, result relevance, latency, and user trust.
  • Serve as the point of accountability for semantic and agentic search across Datadog, aligning multiple product teams on shared intent, relevance, and quality standards.
  • Conduct deep customer research to understand how users express intent, where NLQ fails today, and how semantic systems can better support exploratory workflows.
  • Evangelize best practices for building AI-driven search and intent systems internally, contributing to shared platform standards.

Who You Are:

  • An experienced Product Manager, ideally with experience in search, ML-powered products, developer tools, or data platforms.
  • Technically fluent, with a working understanding of NLP, embeddings, semantic search, ranking, and retrieval-augmented systems.
  • Comfortable working closely with data scientists and engineers to translate modeling tradeoffs into product decisions.
  • Strong communicator who can articulate complex AI behaviors to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer-obsessed, with a strong intuition for how users express intent and evaluate “good” search results.
  • Curious, analytical, and motivated by improving the everyday experience of engineers interacting with complex systems.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits & Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
