Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager to join the Data Center, Power, and Control Team. The Product Manager will lead the life cycle management of the Power product line, solve market problems, create value and help delight customers with solutions to their data center power distribution and measurement requirements. This role is responsible for market development of new and existing products into the existing business structure as well as support pricing strategy, travel with sales team, initiate & respond to training requests for the new markets. The Product Manager, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality. 

This is a REMOTE position. Preferred locations - Somerset, NJ OR Reno, NV

Salary Range - $115,000-$135,000 per year

Responsibilities

What Will You Do?

This individual will be responsible for continued growth as a profitable power business. The technical product manager serves as the product subject matter expert, defining and delivering a product roadmap, researching market needs, defining market requirements, performing competitive analysis and understanding and leveraging technology trends. Ongoing interactions with customers, including customer demonstrations, presentations at industry events are considered an essential in understanding customers’ pain points. Together with an experienced Engineering team, this knowledge must be transformed into clear requirements and a product strategy to ultimately win in the marketplace.


Further duties include:

  • Assess technology and impact on roadmap to drive value-focused innovation and technical leadership in the market
  • Identify market opportunities based on competitive landscape
  • Support product marketing and product launch activities including product presentations, training materials, marketing requirement materials, and other documents related to product training and launch.
  • Establish, enhance or distinguish product placement within the competitive arena.
  • Develop business plans and product positioning in the marketplace including pricing strategies, product specifications, catalogues, data-sheets, training aids, web presence and promotional events.
  • Participate in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, development, and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products.
  • Gain knowledge and technical expertise in PDU accessories like sensors, door lock handles, and other peripheral devices.
  • Support the FW engineering team by providing customer input and feedback related to feature requests and other FW updates and changes.
  • Coordinate technical product development, estimates of potential profits, and release to production.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to other departments including salespeople, sales engineers, customer support team and external partners and customers in support of product development and product launch.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities. 
     
Qualifications

Education:    

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred), Business Administration, Sales and Marketing or related field.  MBA preferred.

Experience:  

  • Minimum 5 - 10 years’ experience in product management, marketing or related field.  Specific electrical or datacenter industry knowledge a plus.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:  

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and to be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.  
  • Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer’s needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment.  Promotes an environment that is encourages cohesiveness and fosters trust and open communication with team, peers and all business partners.
  • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business. Must be proficient in negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.  
  • Position requires travel and flexibility to attend events outside of normal work hours.
