About Plasmidsaurus

Plasmidsaurus is on a mission to accelerate new cures and promote a healthier planet by unlocking a new level of productivity for scientists. Our sequencing services are used daily by thousands of innovators, including Nobel laureates, Fortune 100 pharma, and over 70,000 scientists.

We began by revolutionizing plasmid sequencing, making it exponentially cheaper and faster, with innovative sequencing technologies and a global network of laboratories that turn samples into answers in hours, not weeks.

Now we are expanding that same disruptive model across all of genomics. With the launch of our new RNA-seq service, we are taking a bold step toward our vision to sequence everything, providing scientists everywhere with faster, simpler, and more affordable access to the data that powers discovery.

Every team member at Plasmidsaurus plays a crucial role in driving the future of biotech research. Together, we are building the world’s most efficient sequencing engine that operates overnight, scales globally, and helps scientists make breakthroughs faster than ever before.

The role

Ordering DNA sequencing is famously miserable: you email a sales rep, wait, get a PDF back, fill another form for the order, or wait for barcodes shipped to you. One reason scientists choose us is that we have one of the best websites in biotech that gets you from research idea to order placed in minutes.

We are hiring a Product Manager to own the UX and growth of the non-biology aspects of our web app. You will talk to our users, create clarity for our engineering teams, and make all facets of the customer experience from first hearing about Plasmidsaurus to becoming a long-term customer.

We operate worldwide and are scaling rapidly - serving everyone from grad students to Fortune 100 pharma.

What you'll be doing
  • Talk to world-class researchers about moving their science faster. We have an unusual number of customers who want to talk to us. Distill the customer voice into a roadmap with our engineering teams.

  • Create incredible user experiences. Make sure Plasmidsaurus is the benchmark that customers mention.

  • Own the surfaces that aren't sequencing: onboarding, collaboration, payments, order and logistics tracking, account settings, emails, internationalization, workspaces and sharing. Customers spend a large slice of their research budget with us, and we want to be known as their favorite vendor.

  • Growth. Improve analytics and visibility into key customer workflows. Find where users drop off in onboarding, ordering, and sharing results, then run experiments to fix it.

What we're looking for
  • A track record of shipping, you have made significant contributions to shape a B2B product into something customers love.

  • Agency. You don't wait for someone to hand you a brief. You get hands-on with analytics, book your own user interviews, build prototypes, and keep engineers up to date.

  • Your preferred communication style is for prototypes over PRDs, Claude artifacts, standalone HTML.

  • Great product judgment and UX sense.

  • You can ramp fast in technical domains. No science background required, but you should be energized by complexity and willing to learn.

What would impress us even more
  • You are comfortable shipping code, AI-assisted or not.

  • You have worked at a small company where you were the PM.

  • You got obsessed with a problem and built something to solve it, even though nobody asked you to.

What we offer
  • We are a bootstrapped, profitable company at an exciting inflection point.

  • Ownership and impact. Your work goes directly to 70,000 scientists, including Nobel laureates, who trust Plasmidsaurus with their research.

  • A tower office in South San Francisco with bay views, a state-of-the-art lab, and the occasional batch of liquid nitrogen ice cream.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly align with the job description as we seek out diverse and creative perspectives. Team members who love to learn and collaborate in an inclusive environment will thrive with us. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. If you need additional accommodations to feel comfortable during your interview process, please let us know at [email protected].
