Outset invented a better way to do research: AI-powered user interviews.

Global brands like Hubspot, Microsoft, Uber and Nestle use Outset to achieve deeper, qualitative insights about their users at unprecedented speed and scale.

The research industry is massive (>$140B and growing) and ripe for disruption. Incumbents are outdated, slow, and burdened by high-cost services. That's our opportunity.

Outset is backed by top Silicon Valley investors and raised a $30M Series B in December 2025—less than six months after our Series A—led by Radical Ventures with participation from M12 (Microsoft’s venture arm), 8VC, Y Combinator, and Adverb Ventures.

The raise follows a breakout year, with our business growing 8x as enterprise customers across industries adopt our category, AI‑moderated research, as the new standard for understanding people.

We’re a tight-knit team based in San Francisco’s Financial District, serving some of the world’s largest enterprises

We are looking for a product manager who combines sharp product instincts with the ability to turn ambiguity into clarity and momentum. This is not a backlog-tending role. It’s a chance to define an entirely new category, shaping how the world understands and builds for humans.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product lifecycle end-to-end, from shaping vision and strategy to shipping features and measuring outcomes.

  • Work directly with Outset’s founders to define priorities, refine our roadmap, and make the tough tradeoffs that matter most.

  • Partner with design and engineering to deliver products that delight customers and scale with speed.

  • Collaborate with research and design leaders at some of the world’s biggest brands, ensuring our product meets the needs of the most forward-thinking teams.

  • Translate customer insights into action, balancing bold bets with quick iterations that move the needle.

  • Champion the customer perspective across the company, keeping us anchored on solving the right problems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in startups or fast-moving environments where you wore many hats.

  • Strong product sense — you see around corners, anticipate second-order effects, and know how to prioritize for impact.

  • Proven ability to drive execution, with a track record of shipping products that solved real problems and scaled.

  • Clear, concise communicator who can explain tradeoffs, rally teams, and build alignment across stakeholders.

  • Bias for action — you don’t wait for perfect clarity; you create it and move forward.

  • Bonus: Experience with user research, analytics, or AI-driven products.

Benefits

  • Daily collaboration with founders, shaping the core product vision.

  • Exposure to and collaboration with design and research leaders at top global brands.

  • Competitive cash and equity compensation. Actual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.

Outset is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees, free from discrimination based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other protected class.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
