About depthfirst

We believe that software is the foundation of modern civilization - yet vulnerabilities threaten its integrity, security, and resilience. We are on a mission to solve security.

depthfirst is building intelligence to detect and remediate critical software vulnerabilities. We are training and scaling security AI agents to discover zero-days vulnerabilities across large customer codebases and popular open source software.

Our founding team includes deep expertise in data, infrastructure, security and LLMs with technical leaders from DeepMind, Databricks, Square, and Faire. We are looking for strong technically-minded people who are interested in working at the intersection of AI, Security and Infrastructure.

About This Role

depthfirst is hiring its first Product Marketing Lead. This is a founding go-to-market role for someone who wants to define how a category-defining security product is understood, talked about, and sold.

You will help define and iterate on positioning and messaging, and you will be the connective tissue between product, sales, and the market. The application security space is crowded and noisy, full of tools that overpromise, and your job is to make it obvious why depthfirst is revolutionary and better than the alternatives.

As the first PMM, you will wear many hats. You will write copy for our website, build sales decks, run product launches, lead sales enablement, and deliver competitive analysis. This is a broad, high-ownership role with room to build the function around you as we scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own positioning and messaging for depthfirst and each product, and keep it sharp as the product and market evolve

  • Make depthfirst stand out in a crowded, hype-heavy security market by turning technical differentiation into a clear, credible story buyers trust

  • Run product launches end to end: narrative, assets, timing, and cross-functional coordination across product, sales, and demand gen

  • Build competitor intelligence into a durable asset: track the landscape, run win/loss analysis, and equip the team with battlecards and objection handling that actually get used

  • Partner closely with sales to build enablement that moves deals, including pitch decks, one-pagers, demo narratives, and talk tracks, and sit in on calls to keep it grounded in reality

  • Write and own high-impact website copy that converts, from the homepage to product pages

  • Develop a deep understanding of our buyers and translate their problems into language that resonates across our website, pitch decks, one pagers, and enablement collateral

  • Feed market and competitive signal back to product to shape roadmap and priorities

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in product marketing, ideally including a first or early PMM hire at a fast-growing startup where you had to iterate on messaging

  • A track record of making technical products stand out in competitive, crowded markets

  • Strong partnership with sales, with real experience building enablement that reps rely on and win/loss or competitive programs that influence deals

  • Excellent writing: you can take something technical and make it clear, sharp, and persuasive

  • Comfort going deep on a technical product; developer tools, security, or infrastructure experience is a strong plus

  • High ownership and range: you are energized by owning many things at once and building from zero

  • Alignment with our mission of securing the world’s software

  • Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance

  • 401k

  • Office lunch and dinner (SF office)

  • Ownership and significant room to grow as the company scales
