OP Labs builds Optimism, an open-source blockchain network that powers the next generation of financial infrastructure. Hundreds of companies, from the world's largest enterprises like Sony, Coinbase, Kraken, Uniswap, OKX, and Bitpanda to the most ambitious early-stage builders, use the OP stack to launch their own blockchains and bring their users onchain. Today, over 65% of Layer 2 activity on Ethereum runs through the OP stack.

We are a small team building at the speed of the ecosystem we support. We’re remote-friendly but the NYC office is our center of gravity. We've raised $178M from a16z, Paradigm, and others. We have our work cut out for us and are looking for exceptional people to join us.

About the role

Product Marketing is how the OP Stack gets understood, evaluated, and chosen. This role, the Product Marketing Lead, owns the narrative for our products across enterprise buyers, institutional partners, and the developer community. You will define how we position against alternatives, package what we build into offerings the market can buy, and equip the go-to-market team to sell them. This requires a rare combination of enterprise B2B rigor and genuine fluency with deeply technical infrastructure.

What are the role responsibilities?
  • Own positioning, messaging, and narrative for Optimism and the OP Stack, translating complex infrastructure into a clear value proposition for enterprise, institutional, and developer audiences.

  • Own end-to-end go-to-market for product launches, including segmentation, launch strategy, tiering, cross-functional coordination, and post-launch measurement.

  • Define and maintain the ideal customer profile and buyer personas across our core segments, including financial institutions, fintechs, and enterprises evaluating onchain infrastructure.

  • Build the sales and BD enablement engine: pitch narratives, solution briefs, competitive battle cards, case studies, and objection handling that shortens enterprise sales cycles.

  • Own competitive and market intelligence, maintaining a current view of alternative L2s, rollup frameworks, and infrastructure providers, and turning that view into positioning decisions.

  • Partner with Product to shape the roadmap with market evidence, and with Partnerships to package joint offerings with ecosystem and infrastructure partners.

  • Support analyst, press, and executive communications with a consistent product narrative, in partnership with the comms team.

  • Build and lead the product marketing function over time, including hiring, standards, and operating cadence.

  • Proactively communicate market shifts, competitive threats, and launch readiness to executive leadership.

What skills do you bring?
Marketing & Commercial Acumen:
  • 7+ years in product marketing at enterprise B2B SaaS companies, including time owning positioning and launches for a technical product line end-to-end.

  • Proven track record marketing to enterprise buying committees through long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles involving procurement, security, and legal review.

  • Strong commercial instincts around packaging, pricing narrative, and competitive displacement, with the judgment to know which deals a message needs to win.

  • Demonstrated impact on pipeline and revenue, not just content output.

Product & Technical Fluency:
  • Comfortable engaging directly with engineers and technical buyers, and able to develop credible messaging about infrastructure without oversimplifying it.

  • Strategic product thinking, including the ability to run customer discovery and bring market evidence into roadmap and build-partner-buy decisions.

  • Experience marketing to developers alongside enterprise buyers is a strong plus.

Execution & Communication:
  • High-agency cross-functional operator, proficient at driving work across product, sales, BD, design, and external partners to ship launches that create measurable impact.

  • Exceptional writer, able to produce concise strategy documents, narratives, and enablement material that keep all stakeholders aligned.

  • Proven ability to manage multi-quarter marketing roadmaps and drive clarity in ambiguous environments.

  • Experience building or scaling a product marketing team.

  • A genuine passion for blockchain technology, decentralization, and the future of open systems.

Nice to have:
  • Experience selling or marketing into banks, payment networks, or fintechs, and familiarity with how regulated financial institutions evaluate and procure infrastructure.

  • Exposure to compliance, risk, payments, or stablecoin and fiat-rail products.

We are aware of fraudulent individuals falsely claiming to represent OP Labs in recruitment activities.
Please note:

  • All official communication will come from an @oplabs.co email address, or from a verified Linked profile.

  • We will never ask for payment, banking information, or personal identification details at any stage of our hiring process.

  • All current openings are listed exclusively on our official careers page and linked from our verified social profiles.

  • If you’re ever unsure about a communication that claims to be from OP Labs, please contact us directly at [email protected] to verify authenticity.

Your safety and trust are very important to us. Thank you for helping us prevent fraud.
