Maxima is the agentic system of work for enterprise accounting, purpose-built to deliver SOX-compliant, real-time close. Our founders have experience coming from both sides of the problem: from overseeing the finance org at Rubrik, to building month-end close systems at companies like Twitter and Netflix.

We recently raised our $41M seed + series A funding, from top tier investors like Redpoint Ventures and Kleiner Perkins, are backed by finance leaders at companies such as Rippling, OpenAI, and Ramp, and was recognized as a best place to work by SF Business Times and Silicon Valley Journal

The Role

We are hiring a Product Marketing Manager to build the narratives and content that define how Maxima is understood in the market. This is a hands-on, builder-operator role focused on product positioning, messaging, and creating high-quality marketing content that educates enterprise buyers and generates pipeline.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, founders, customers, and marketing to translate complex accounting workflows and AI capabilities into clear, differentiated narratives that build trust and move buyers from awareness to conviction. From buyer guides and ebooks to deep technical explainers, product pages, webinars, and industry reports, you will shape how enterprise finance teams discover, evaluate, and adopt Maxima.

Our audience is controllers and senior accounting leaders at mid-market and enterprise companies. They are pressed for time, allergic to hype, and responsible for some of the highest-stakes workflows in the business. Every asset we produce should reflect that.

What you’ll do

  • Own Maxima’s product positioning, messaging, and narrative as the platform evolves.
  • Translate complex accounting workflows and AI capabilities into simple, differentiated stories that resonate with enterprise accounting leaders.
  • Create high-quality product marketing content including buyer guides, ebooks, whitepapers, industry reports, product pages, webinar content, launch content, and educational resources that generate qualified pipeline.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to deeply understand new capabilities and turn them into compelling customer-facing content.
  • Produce authoritative thought leadership that earns the respect of senior accounting leaders and helps define the future of agentic accounting.
  • Conduct customer interviews, market research, and competitive analysis to sharpen positioning and uncover new storytelling opportunities.
  • Partner with Demand Generation to create campaigns and content that educate buyers and accelerate pipeline.
  • Build repeatable editorial systems and workflows that enable Maxima to consistently produce exceptional product marketing content.

About you

  • Strong positioning instincts. You can take a technically sophisticated product and articulate exactly why it matters to enterprise buyers.
  • Proven ability to create high-quality product marketing content including buyer guides, whitepapers, ebooks, product pages, industry reports, webinar content, and launch assets.
  • Exceptional writer with outstanding editorial judgment, clarity of thought, and genuine voice. You write like a person, not a language model.
  • Comfortable translating complex accounting workflows, enterprise software, and AI systems into simple, differentiated narratives.
  • Strong customer empathy and interviewing skills that uncover meaningful insights and buying motivations.
  • AI-native in your workflow (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.).
  • Able to build systems and use AI as a force multiplier without sacrificing quality.
  • High agency, strong judgment, and a bias toward shipping.

Must-haves

  • Experience at an early- to growth-stage B2B SaaS company.
  • Experience developing product positioning, messaging, and marketing content for technical products.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams.
  • High quality bar and strong taste for product storytelling, editorial quality, and narrative.
  • Experience using modern AI tools for research, writing, and content creation.

Strong plus

  • Background in accounting, finance, fintech, ERP, or enterprise software.
  • Experience marketing AI products, workflow automation, or technical platforms.
  • Familiarity with accounting workflows such as journal entries, reconciliations, close management, or financial reporting.
  • Experience launching AI or agentic software products.
  • Familiarity with Claude Code or similar AI tooling.

Why this role matters

Enterprise accounting is entering its biggest platform shift in decades. Legacy software helped teams coordinate the close. Maxima automates the preparation work that makes closing hard in the first place.

We’re looking for someone who can help tell that story. You’ll combine strong product marketing instincts with exceptional storytelling to create the content that educates the market, builds trust with enterprise buyers, and generates demand. The work you produce won’t just support marketing—it will shape how an entire category is understood.

Why join us

  • Impact from day one: Help define how enterprise accounting understands agentic AI.
  • Autonomy: High-agency environment. Ship fast, iterate faster, and own your work end-to-end.
  • AI-native company: Join a team where AI is core to how we build products, create marketing, and operate every day.
  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
