About Sol

Sol is an agentic HR system built for how work is changing. We're replacing the traditional HRIS with an AI-native foundation. We are built for change, designed to scale, and reimagined with AI from the ground up, so HR leaders get a clear view of their workforce instead of a system everyone works around.

At Sol, we're guided by three things: people: we hire driven, humble people and build to amplify their potential and our customers'; imagination: we challenge assumptions about our industry and how software gets built, then move fast once we've decided; and durability: we sweat the details to build a company that is meant to last. Day to day, that shows up as a bias toward writing things down over meetings, async communication by default, and flexible hours that respect how differently everyone works. We try new things, kill what isn't working, and hold a high bar without the politics or ego that slow good decisions down.

Sol was founded by leaders who spent decades building the modern HR category, and is backed by Sutter Hill Ventures and NEA. Our first customers go live in early 2027 and we need you to make them wildly successful.

THE ROLE

Every HR vendor now says "AI." Most mean a copilot sitting on top of the same system of record HR teams have worked around for decades. Sol is built differently. Agents help implement, configure, and maintain the system itself. Sol captures the why behind HR decisions, not just the what, and changes what HR teams spend their time on.

You'll be Sol's first marketer. Your job is to make that difference clear to the HR, Finance, and IT leaders who buy core HR systems, and to prove it rather than claim it. That means knowing each of those buyers well enough to write for them in their own language. You'll own positioning and messaging, sales enablement, our market launch in 2027, customer proof, and the story we tell in public.

This is a craft role. You'll write the copy, build the deck, and draft the page yourself, and they should be the best in the company. AI is a part of how you research, draft, and work. You own every word and every slide. You'll also bring a point of view on how companies are actually adopting AI: what changes when you stop adding AI to old processes and rethink the work itself.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Define the narrative. Position Sol against legacy suites, all-in-one platforms, and point solutions adding AI on top, and write the core story everything else draws from.

  • Message to each buyer. Build and test the story for HR leaders, HR Ops and HRIS teams, Finance, and IT and security.

  • Arm the sales team. Own the demo narrative, first-call deck, objection handling, competitive materials, and the business case for Finance.

  • Run the launch. Plan how we go to market as our first customers go live in early 2027 and we start selling more broadly.

  • Build customer proof. Turn design partners and early customers into references, case studies, and stories buyers trust.

  • Shape our point of view. Work with our founders on what Sol believes about AI and the future of HR, and get it in front of the market.

  • Own core assets. Build the website copy, first-call deck, and data sheets yourself. Work with designers to make them better, but you’ve got great taste. .

  • Know the field. Join customer and prospect calls, track the competitive landscape, and feed what you learn into product and pricing decisions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Product marketing experience in enterprise B2B software, ideally selling to HR and Finance buyers through long, multi-stakeholder cycles.

  • You understand what a CHRO/CPO is accountable for and what a CFO needs to see before signing, and how those conversations differ.

  • You've built positioning from scratch or moved a product into a new category.

  • You’re an excellent writer and you’d rather draft it yourself than brief someone else. You can tell when copy sounds like AI wrote it and you won’t let that out the door. You know web copy, slide copy, and a data sheet are different jobs, and you write each the way it should be written.

  • You have real visual taste. You notice when a font is wrong, when spacing is off, when a slide has too much on it. You can build a deck that looks finished without a designer.

  • AI is part of how you work every day for research, first drafts, and workflow, and you’ve built your own agents and workflows with it.

  • You have a clear point of view on how companies are adopting AI beyond bolt-on features.

  • You can make a complex product simple without making it generic, and you're credible in a room with senior buyers.

  • You're comfortable being the first marketer, without a team or a playbook.

  • Bonus: HRIS or HR tech experience, or time at an AI-native company. There's also room to grow into demand generation, brand, events, or communications as we scale, if that interests you.

WHY NOW

We're early. Our first customers go live in early 2027, and the story we tell now will shape how the market sees Sol for years. You'll define it from the first word, with the founders and product team in the room.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Base range: $200,000-$250,000 and significant early-stage equity

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage

  • Mental health support (Talkspace), fertility care (Kindbody) and primary care access (Teladoc, One Medical)

  • FSA and dependent care accounts

  • Life and disability insurance

  • 401(k)

  • Untracked PTO and company holidays

Location: San Mateo / San Francisco, CA (we are currently in San Mateo, planning to move to San Francisco in 2027).
