The Opportunity

Hi there! I'm Esteban Navarro Garaiz, and I lead the Baseball Intelligence team at Teamworks. Our Intelligence platform is used by MLB teams, NCAA programs, and international clubs to make player personnel and coaching decisions — and this role sits at the center of how that value gets delivered.

I'm looking for a Product Scientist with a strong baseball analytics background and the technical acumen to validate model outputs, drive adoption across our partner organizations, build internal reporting, and feed what they learn back into the product in close partnership with our Data Science and Engineering teams. Two immediate priorities: building platform observability and supporting NCAA trial conversions and MLB sales outcomes. We're open to both Product Scientist and Senior Product Scientist candidates depending on experience.

The Role
  • Own the full client lifecycle for MLB and NCAA partner teams, from onboarding through ongoing adoption, ensuring partners consistently get value from the platform

  • Build and maintain a unified client health dashboard that consolidates Google Cloud, API, and web application usage into a single view of platform observability

  • Drive NCAA trial program outcomes in close coordination with Customer Success, with the goal of converting trials to paid partnerships

  • Validate model outputs and platform releases against baseball intuition before they reach partners, serving as the first internal line of defense

  • Partner with data scientists and engineers to design statistical validation plans for new and enhanced capabilities

  • Translate model updates and feature releases into clear, practical communication for both technical and non-technical audiences across partner organizations

  • Contribute to MLB sales efforts by developing customized materials, joining sales conversations, and helping demonstrate platform value to prospective partners

  • Feed partner insights back into the product roadmap by advocating internally for what front offices and coaching staffs actually need

What I’m Looking For

What You Must Bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in a baseball data science or technical product management role

  • Deep knowledge of baseball analytics, including player evaluation, projection, and on-field strategy, with fluency in how those concepts apply at the professional and collegiate levels

  • Proven track record of working with or alongside MLB or NCAA front offices, coaching staffs, or public-facing analytics organizations in a data or analytics capacity

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience querying relational databases for analysis and reporting

  • Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis, modeling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Shiny, Tableau) for statistical analysis, reporting, and communicating outputs to non-technical audiences.

Even Better If:

  • You have experience with cloud data infrastructure including Google Cloud Storage (GCS), AWS, Airflow

  • You have familiarity with Agile project management tools like Linear or GitHub

  • You have a background in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field

  • You have active participation in the baseball analytics community through research conferences (e.g. Saberseminar, SABR Analytics) or published research

Why This Role

The Baseball Intelligence team is evolving fast and there's real greenfield work ahead. Platform observability needs to become data-driven rather than qualitative. Our NCAA platform is just getting started and needs dedicated ownership and support to achieve its vision of becoming the standard for college baseball analytics. MLB sales efforts need someone who can walk into a room with a front office and speak the language. This is a role where you'll have direct visibility into how the product evolves and a real say in the outcomes that matter most to our partners.
