The Production Planning Manager will lead production planning and scheduling to ensure customer demand, inventory goals, and plant capacity are effectively balanced. This role will develop and manage daily, weekly, and long-range production plans, monitor execution, and proactively resolve planning challenges.
 

The Production Planning Manager will partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations, and Demand Planning to align coffee supply, production requirements, and co-manufacturing capabilities. This role will also support engineering changes, maintain key performance reporting, and identify opportunities to optimize production capacity, improve efficiency, and deliver exceptional customer service in a cost-effective manner.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop the planning team: Manage and coach production schedulers/coordinators, build high-performing talent, support career growth, and foster a strong safety and quality mindset.
  • Drive collaboration and continuous improvement: Create a “one team” environment across planning, operations, buying, and multi-site partners; apply the Company Production System, such as MOS, and Lean Manufacturing principles to improve KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, productivity, cost, and on-time delivery using structured problem-solving tools such as PPS, A3, and RRN.
  • Plan production and materials: Lead production planning activities using the Company Production System, such as MOS or other systems, and Lean Manufacturing principles; develop daily, weekly, and monthly production and material schedules for make-to-stock and make-to-order perishable products while balancing demand, freshness, quality, inventory, service, capacity, labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Optimize inventory and planning parameters: Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels, measure fill rate and service levels, and refine MRP planning parameters using business criticality, forecast accuracy, service-level requirements, lead times, Min/Max levels, and EOQs.
  • Manage master scheduling and capacity: Develop the Monthly Master Production Schedule, assess manufacturing lead times and risks, evaluate schedule impacts from variances or change orders, and drive planning and capacity-management improvements.
  • Coordinate execution across functions: Partner daily with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Accounting, and supply chain teams to execute production plans, resolve shop-floor issues, and communicate schedule changes, special runs, and maintenance requirements.
  • Support systems, reporting, and new products: Use ERP/MRP systems to streamline scheduling, represent Manufacturing in NPI and S&OE processes, support item setup, own production-attainment reporting, and identify actions needed to ensure smooth operations.

Who you are:

  • Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience, with at least 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Production planning expertise: Experience with multi-site production scheduling and planning in both discrete and process manufacturing environments.
  • Systems knowledge: Experience configuring and using MRP/MPS systems, including capacity planning and trend forecasting.
  • Technology proficiency: Experience with Microsoft D365 preferred; prior implementation of MRP systems for production is a plus.
  • Communication and collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Problem solving: Demonstrated innovative and critical thinking skills, with strong analytical capability and the ability to recommend practical solutions.
  • Organization and customer focus: Strong organizational, customer service, and project management skills.
  • Presentation skills: Comfortable developing and delivering group presentations to cross-functional audiences.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency: Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to create clear reports, presentations, and planning materials.

Program when you need it.

The target annual base salary range for this position is 128,000- $166,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the applicant’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education, certifications or licenses, other legitimate non-discriminatory business factors, and the geographic location of the role. In addition to base pay, individuals in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
