THE ROLE
The Program Specialist will work closely with the Associate Director of Special Education, a team of Learning Specialists, School Psychologists and General Education leaders to support systems so that the Special Education/Intervention program meets the needs of students so they graduate prepared for success after high school.
This position will assist in creating and maintaining systems for the successful implementation of our Special Education program within the general education environment and a Learning Center model across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as initial contact and apply judgment when problem solving issues related to IEP implementation, placement, services, transition or other IEP-related services
  • Develop and oversee capacity of site special education team and Response to Intervention Team, including participating in professional reviews, coaching Learning Specialists and Instructional Assistants, advising child-find and Response to Intervention tiers of intervention
  • Creates resources and support services around post-secondary transition for school sites
  • Assist with resources to access community agencies (i.e. SELPA, County Mental Health, Community Colleges, Regional Occupational Center)
  • Support school teams in their understanding of learning and behavior disabilities and their manifestations in the classroom through teacher coaching, site-based workshops, Envision-wide professional development
  • Plan regular professional development for Special Education team, foster team-identity and job-alike dialogue
  • EDCOE/Charter SELPA liaison for SEIS, information distribution, management of CASEMIS reporting, meetings & scheduling, professional development, and other related responsibilities related to SELPA 
  • Participate in monthly EDCOE / Charter SELPA Steering committee meetings
  • Monitors compliance and educational benefit, per IEP procedural regulations, including State and Self-Review process
  • Coordinate with HR and appropriate staff for recruiting, screening, scheduling activities related to new special education hires and contracted DIS service providers 
  • Support hourly employee timesheets, material ordering, expense management and/or reporting
LOCATION
This position is onsite and requires travel between our Support Office and 3 campuses located in San Francisco, Hayward, and Oakland

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid California Education Specialist credential, CLAD certificate preferred
  • Masters in Special Education or related area preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 3-5 years Special Education experience
  • In-depth knowledge of current Special Education and Federal laws
  • Expert knowledge of writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), running IEP meetings, Behavior Support Plans and Progress Monitoring
  • Successful school leadership experience or targeted training with a track record of positive results.
  • Demonstrated experience affecting positive organizational change and leading staff to accomplish ambitious goals in the face of challenging obstacles.
  • Bilingual Spanish speakers preferred. 
  • Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve to meet outcomes.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Commensurate with experience and credentials. The starting full time salary range for this role is between $85,000-$95,000. (Part-time is pro-rated accordingly.)

If you are offered this position, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, Envision Education complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.  We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
