HVDC Projects are large and complex projects with multiple sites across the world and international teams involved. Project Planning Manager is part of the Project Controls team and his/her role is to develop and manage the project schedule, aligning with all functions.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling Governance

  • Maintain and update schedule data in the approved planning system based on provided inputs and instructions.
  • Support the application of agreed planning structures, calendars, and coding systems.
  • Perform routine schedule updates, data checks, and version control activities.
  • Prepare standard planning extracts and reports for internal use.

Integrated Master Schedule Management

  • Assist in consolidating schedule inputs from internal disciplines and workstreams.
  • Prepare schedule summaries and look-ahead views for coordination meetings.
  • Highlight data gaps or inconsistencies to the planning lead for clarification.

Progress Measurement & Reporting

  • Collect and input progress information in accordance with defined progress rules.
  • Support preparation of planning KPIs, trend charts, and schedule performance views.
  • Assist in producing periodic planning reports and dashboards.

Contractor & Interface Coordination

  • Support documentation of schedule updates related to scope changes or delays.
  • Maintain planning logs and registers as instructed.
  • Provide factual schedule data to support internal assessments and reviews.

Change, Risk & Scenario Management

  • Evaluate schedule impacts resulting from scope changes, delays, or external factors.
  • Support schedule risk analysis and participate in mitigation strategy development.
  • Prepare and assess schedule inputs for Management of Change (MoC), variation orders, and claims.

Support to Cost Control & Estimation

  • Align schedule resource and productivity assumptions with cost estimates and control budgets.
  • Support Cost Control in preparation of Cash Flow, Cost-to-Complete (CTC), and Estimate at Completion (EAC) updates.
  • Ensure Earned Progress (schedule) aligns with Earned Value (cost) for performance measurement.
  • Provide schedule & performance insights into estimating benchmarks and lessons learned.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or a related technical field. (master’s degree is an advantage.)
  • Many years’ of experience in industrial project delivery, including planning/scheduling, progress measurement, and exposure to cost control and change management. Experience in Electrification, HVDC, Substations, Grid Integration, or Oil and Gas projects is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Primavera P6 (resource loading, cost loading, baseline management, critical path analysis, advanced logic structuring).
  • Comprehensive understanding of WBS / CBS, project coding systems, performance measurement frameworks, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Solid knowledge of schedule risk and change management, with the ability to support schedule delay analysis and impact assessments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI / Power Platform for analytics, dashboards, and schedule-performance visualization.
  • PMI-SP® Scheduling Professional or PMP® Project Management Professional preferred; AACE PSP® (Planning & Scheduling Professional) is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, coordination, and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
  • Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement of project controls practices and digitalization of planning workflows.
