Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Quality Manager, Failure Analysis Electrical Engineer located in Milpitas, CA.


Reporting to the Director of Quality the Quality Manager, Failure Analysis Electrical Engineer will be responsible for investigating complex hardware failures across hyperscale AI computing platforms, leading root cause analysis activities, and driving corrective actions to improve the reliability and performance of next-generation AI infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in system-level diagnostics, electrical and physical failure analysis, reliability testing, and semiconductor technologies.


What a typical day looks like:

  • Lead failure analysis investigations on hyperscale AI computing systems, including AI servers, compute nodes, GPU clusters, ASIC-based platforms, networking equipment, storage systems, and power delivery infrastructure.
  • Diagnose hardware failures from the system level down to PCB, component, package, and silicon die levels.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues such as system boot failures, thermal events, memory errors, PCIe failures, power integrity concerns, signal integrity issues, and AI accelerator failures.
  • Interpret schematics, PCB layouts, stack-ups, manufacturing documentation, simulation results, and test data.
  • Perform advanced electrical failure analysis, including short/open circuit analysis, power rail characterization, leakage current investigations, SI/PI analysis, and ESD/EOS assessments.
  • Execute physical failure analysis methodologies, including cross-sectioning, dye and pry, decapsulation, SEM inspection, solder joint analysis, and package integrity evaluations.
  • Investigate semiconductor-related failures involving GPUs, CPUs, ASICs, FPGAs, HBM memory, and high-speed SerDes technologies.
  • Develop and execute reliability validation plans, including thermal cycling, HALT/HASS, burn-in, environmental testing, vibration, mechanical shock, and accelerated life testing.
  • Partner with design engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, reliability teams, and customers to resolve complex product and field reliability issues.
  • Lead technical reviews and communicate reliability findings, corrective actions, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in reliability engineering, electronics engineering, failure analysis, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of previous managerial experience
  • Experience supporting hyperscale computing systems, AI server platforms, GPU-based systems, ASIC-based products, or data center infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of: High-speed digital electronics, Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI),PCB technologies and manufacturing processes, Semiconductor packaging and failure mechanisms, Thermal management and reliability engineering principles
  • Experience using advanced lab and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, logic analyzers, X-ray systems, SEM, CT scanning, and thermal analysis tools.
