About Opal Security:

At Opal, we’re building modern identity governance for the AI era—intelligent access management that empowers enterprises to move fast while staying secure. Our mission is to bring clarity, control, and confidence to complex enterprise environments, helping teams govern access without slowing down innovation.

About the Role:

Opal is going through an exciting growth spurt. We love our office and we love working together, and we need someone to help us grow while preserving everything that makes Opal special — belief in the mission, spontaneous fun, super smart colleagues. We need someone who cares about both who joins Opal and what it feels like to work here.

That's where you come in. You'll be a core part of our People team, wearing two hats: helping us find and hire great people, and making sure Opal is a place people genuinely love coming to. You'll report to our Head of People and have real ownership from day one.

We are building Opal together, in person. This role is 3+ days in office in downtown San Francisco.

What You'll Do:

Recruiting

  • Source candidates creatively; LinkedIn, events, referrals, and whatever else works

  • Manage candidates from first message to onsite, making sure every person who talks to us walks away feeling good about the experience

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand their teams and develop a genuine point of view on who belongs at Opal

  • Help us improve as we go: track what's working, flag what's not, and iterate on our process

Workplace & Events

  • Own Opal's office experience — keep the space stocked, functional, and enjoyable

  • Plan and execute team events: happy hours, offsites, team lunches, and the random fun stuff that makes work feel less like work

  • Coordinate onsite logistics for candidates, new hires, and visitors

  • Be the person who makes things happen when the team needs something

People Ops

  • Support onboarding for new hires so their first days are smooth and welcoming

  • Help with people ops tasks as you ramp — benefits questions, HRIS updates, policy docs, whatever the team needs

  • Grow into more strategic people work over time if that's the direction you want to go

You Might Be a Fit If You:

  • Have 1–4 years of experience in recruiting, people ops, office management, event coordination, or some combination

  • Are a natural organizer who stays on top of a lot of moving pieces without dropping things... hopefully you've figured out how to use Claude to unlock the next level of organization!

  • Actually like people — candidates, coworkers, vendors — and bring warmth to every interaction

  • Are resourceful and scrappy: you figure things out, you don't wait to be told

  • Want ownership and room to grow, not a rigid lane

  • Are excited to be in the office and be part of building the culture in person
