About the role:
We are looking for a senior business development and operations lead based in Detroit or Southeast Michigan with direct experience in vending, payments, convenience retail, micro-markets, unattended retail, industrial locations, or retail automation.
You will help develop one of the company's first major regional markets by building relationships, identifying pilots, supporting customer conversations, and helping create repeatable regional operations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can sell, operate, build trust with traditional industries, and turn conversations into practical next steps.
For candidates who can start immediately, there may be an opportunity to join the founding team in San Francisco for an intensive onboarding and company-building period at a prestigious accelerator.
This is an early role with significant room to grow as the company expands.
Responsibilities:
Own early business development for Michigan and the broader Midwest.
Build relationships with vending operators, micro-market operators, payment providers, convenience retail groups, workplace services, industrial sites, commercial property owners, and strategic location partners.
Identify pilot opportunities in vending, unattended retail, workplace retail, and related self-service environments.
Support local meetings, demos, customer follow-up, and partner conversations.
Work directly with the founder on regional market development, pricing input, customer feedback, and sales materials.
Translate customer feedback into product, deployment, and operational requirements.
Coordinate early field operations, demo logistics, pilot support, and partner success.
Help define how the company should scale across Michigan and the broader Midwest.
Build the foundation for a future regional team across business development, operations, field support, and customer success.
Requirements:
Direct experience in at least one of the following is required:
Vending machines
Unattended retail
Payments, POS, or merchant services
Convenience retail
Micro-markets
Coffee vending or office coffee service
Retail automation
Self-service kiosks
Automated retail hardware or related technology
Strong network in Spain or Iberia across relevant operators, partners, distributors, retailers, or technology providers.
Ability to sell and operate in a hardware-plus-software environment.
Ability to understand business and technical conversations around machines, payments, service, inventory, and operations.
Spanish fluency required.
Professional English required.
Willingness to travel across Michigan, the Midwest, and occasionally for company meetings.
Comfortable operating in an early-stage startup with high autonomy, fast changes, and limited structure.
Strong follow-through and ability to convert introductions into pilots or commercial next steps.
Preferrred experience:
Experience working with vending operators, retail automation companies, payment providers, or machine-based retail businesses.
Experience launching pilots or new technology products with industrial, retail, or commercial partners.
Experience with field operations, hardware deployment, logistics, or customer success.
Experience owning a region, territory, business unit, or major commercial account base.
Experience helping build a local team or commercial function from scratch.
Success Outcomes:
You build a clear understanding of the local market and the highest-priority commercial opportunities.
You create a strong target list of partners, customers, and pilot locations.
You secure meaningful conversations with decision-makers.
You help move at least one serious opportunity toward a pilot or commercial next step.
You provide clear feedback that improves the product, customer positioning, and local operating model.
Over time, you help establish the region as a meaningful market for the company.
Why Join
This is an opportunity to join early and help build a regional business in automated retail and machine-based commerce.
The right person can grow from first regional hire into a broader leadership role as the company scales.
Immediate starters may also have the opportunity to join the team in San Francisco during an early accelerator period, staying and building together with the founding team while helping shape the company's first commercial foundation.
