A day in the life (Responsibilities)
The Retail Team is a newer vertical to Toast, building out our sales and servicing capacity to retail customers.
As a Retail Inventory Consultant, you will work closely with Retail Onboarding Consultants and are dedicated to supporting a wide range of retail customers by collecting their inventory and item library exports from their previous POS system, migrating it into Toast, and confirming accuracy and cleanliness of the upload with customers. You will also host Item Library Review meetings with customers to ensure understanding of the system prior to the customer’s installation and go-live date. Additionally, in partnership with Retail Onboarding Consultants, you will support newly onboarded customers on an as needed basis for their first 30 days with Toast.
You serve as the customer’s inventory relationship manager from the time that the account purchases Toast, through the onboarding phase of the customer journey. You are expected to work autonomously under an Onboarding Manager to achieve monthly activation goals, prioritize work based on customer need and Toast requirements, collaborate well with Retail Onboarding Consultants and cross-functional teams, and deliver high quality customer interactions. What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)
- Leverage your Toast product knowledge and project management skills to partner with retail business owners during the Go-Live phase, and build out Retail Item Library functionality that will produce a high quality inventory implementation experience within timeline and budget
- Train and enable retail business owners on managing inventory operations through utilizing Toast’s Retail Item Library, sales/COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) reporting, and overall retail functionality
- Responsible for collecting customer’s inventory exports, conducting any necessary data cleanup, migrating it into ToastWeb, and reviewing for accuracy and approval
- Assist in onboarding remotely while documenting inventory integration into the Toast POS system, observe Toast best practices as well as document any deviations from best practices that were identified during the design phase of the project.
- Manage several inventory consultations simultaneously, including large books of onboarding business (45+retail business’) in your region.
- Ensure the transition goes smoothly and that you are available to assist and guide the customer during their first 30 days of usage by providing post-live remote guidance, troubleshoot problems or follow-up training.
- Repeat above duties on an as needed basis for Toast Menu builds
What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)
- 4+ years of experience in a role responsible for customer satisfaction and business operations (e.g. a retail store manager), including management of long-term customer relationships (4+ weeks or more)
- 2+ years of experience of COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) and inventory analysis in Retail, Food and Beverage, or Hospitality industries
- 1+ years experience in a project management or implementation role working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (Vlookups, Pivot Tables, formulas, etc.)
- Success operating independently and navigating competing priorities in a constantly changing environment
- Skilled in project management tools such as Salesforce, Asana, and Google Workspace, with strong organizational discipline
- Proven track record of success in meeting and exceeding goals
- Excellent communication, organizational, and influencing skills
What will help you stand out (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)
- Strong understanding of POS systems, integrations, and retail operation workflows (a plus for candidates from hospitality or retail SaaS).
- Experience working in the tech industry or for a SAAS company
- Training, teaching, or development experience
- Sales and objection handling experience
- Located in a Pacific or Mountain time zone

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
