This position partners closely with Sales, PLM, Operations, IT, and Legal to support new product launches and evolving revenue streams, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance with ASC 606.

This is a hybrid role, expected to be onsite 3 days a week in our San Jose HQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Warranty lag and returns reserve analysis

  • Deferred revenue calculations and schedules

  • Adjustments and reclasses (e.g., short-term vs. long-term deferred revenue, segment corrections)

  • Validate system-generated entries (Rev Engine, amortization, waterfalls) and resolve discrepancies

  • Prepare and reconcile key balance sheet accounts (deferred revenue, accruals, reserves)

  • Support management reporting and quarterly disclosures related to revenue

  • Assist with internal and external audits, including SOX and PBC requirements

  • Prepare and lead Revenue Countdown and communicate status updates during close cycles

Revenue Accounting & Technical Analysis

  • Review customer and service provider contracts to assess revenue recognition implications

  • Perform SSP analysis and evaluate carveouts, bundles, and allocation methodologies

  • Assess Principal vs. Agent considerations and maintain supporting documentation

  • Analyze bundle structures, lag impacts, and revenue allocation outcomes

  • Track revenue share arrangements and ensure accurate accruals and reporting

New Revenue Streams & Business Partnership

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, PLM, FP&A, Cost, IT, Legal, and regional teams on new product launches and go-to-market initiatives

  • Evaluate accounting implications for new SKUs (hardware, services, support, bundled offerings)

  • Support process design and system setup for new revenue streams (e.g., subscriptions, professional services, support)

  • Ensure appropriate SSP, revenue allocation, and system configuration for new offerings

  • Identify risks and recommend solutions to ensure ASC 606 compliance

Forecasting & Planning

  • Develop and update forecasts across key revenue areas, including channel marketing (contra-revenue), service revenue, and bundled offerings

  • Support Revenue Countdown forecasting and estimated revenue files

  • Analyze actual vs. forecasted performance (e.g., shipments, returns) and explain key variances

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements across revenue accounting and reporting processes

  • Support automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and data accuracy

  • Maintain and improve documentation for revenue processes and controls

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

  • 5+ years of combined experience in public accounting, revenue accounting, or related roles

  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 (SSP, carveouts, bundles, deferrals, Principal vs. Agent)

  • Experience supporting new product launches or revenue stream implementation preferred

  • Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred)

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)

  • Experience with subscription/revenue systems (e.g., Aria, Stripe Billing) a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
