The role also involves dependency upgrades, technical-debt reduction, and responsible use of AI coding assistants.

ImagineX is a tech company that deploys AI-assisted teams to build and secure mission-critical enterprise solutions with our clients – spanning software, data, and AI. Structured like a software company, not a traditional consultancy, we blend deep technical expertise with authentic values, achieving world-class satisfaction (NPS 91). Our dedicated teams specialize in software, data, and AI across the U.S. and LATAM, bridging the gap between boutique agility and enterprise scale.
We are searching for a Ruby on Rails Developer for a dedicated client project, building and maintaining full-stack features across the client's Rails back end and Vue.js front end. You will own work from database design through the user interface, shipping reliable, well-tested code alongside our team and the client's stakeholders. We are looking for a well-rounded technologist: Rails and Vue are the core of this engagement, and experience across other languages is a real plus.
This is a 100% remote role, and we're open to full-time or 1099 contractor.
What you'll do

  • Design, build and maintain features in a Ruby on Rails application, including models, controllers, background jobs and APIs.
  • Build responsive, reusable front-end components in Vue.js and connect them to Rails through REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Write automated tests (RSpec, Minitest, Jest or Vitest) and keep coverage high on new code.
  • Design database schemas and write efficient queries in PostgreSQL, diagnosing slow queries and N+1 issues.
  • Review teammates' pull requests and give clear, constructive feedback.
  • Work with product, design and QA to scope features, estimate work and ship in short iterations.
  • Monitor, debug and fix production issues, and help improve deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Keep dependencies current, including Rails and Vue version upgrades, and pay down technical debt.
What you bring
  • 5+ years of professional experience building web applications with Ruby on Rails.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Vue.js (Vue 3 and the Composition API preferred).
  • Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and with ActiveRecord.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • A habit of writing automated tests and practical experience with test-driven development.
  • Comfort with Git, pull-request workflows and CI/CD tools.
  • Consulting or client-facing experience, including working directly with client stakeholders on requirements.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude to speed up development, debugging, refactoring and test writing, with the judgment to review and verify AI-generated code.
Nice to have
  • Versatility across multiple programming languages, such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript or Node.js, and comfort picking up new ones as the client's needs change.
