🌏 About anyIP

anyIP.io is a fast-growing proxy provider — affordable, high-quality residential and mobile proxies in 190+ countries. Built by engineers, loved by power users.

We're an AI-first company: we lean on AI across the whole stack — coding, reviews, debugging, ops, and tooling — to ship faster and punch far above our size. You'll be expected (and encouraged) to wield it daily.

🔥 The role

Be the technical owner of our proxy platform: a 100% async Rust codebase (~50k lines, multi-repo) doing tens of millions of requests/day.

The core is a hard distributed-systems problem — we coordinate a churning fleet of devices running our server as proxy and route live customer traffic through them over custom TLS + custom protocols. Your job: keep that fleet fast, reliable, and byte-accurately billed.

This is a hands-on lead role. You'll mostly design, code, review, and debug production systems — not manage a large team.

🛠️ What you'll own

  • 📡 Peer-fleet coordination & reliability — lifecycle, keep-alive, health checks, circuit breakers, zombie-peer detection, QoS-aware archiving
  • 🔌 Core protocol work — proxy, SOCKS5, UDP, QUIC, and load balancing under real traffic
  • 💵 Usage-metering correctness — every byte billed once across HTTP/CONNECT/SOCKS5 TCP+UDP and client aborts, verified by E2E tests
  • 🛡️ Security & abuse prevention — domain/SSRF/rate-limit policy, anti-DDoS, per-datagram checks on UDP (incl. QUIC SNI for HTTP/3)
  • 📊 Reliability & observability — profiling, hot-path tuning, Prometheus/tracing, taming RabbitMQ event pressure
  • 🧩 Clean service contracts (gRPC, binary protocols), CI/CD, Helm/K8s delivery, and code review

🧠 What we're looking for

  • 5+ years professional Rust, with Tokio mastery
  • Senior/lead experience on backend, infra, or systems work
  • Strong async/concurrency, performance tuning, and low-level instincts
  • Solid TCP/UDP/multiplexer and protocol design knowledge (Protobuf, Bincode, raw)
  • Security mindset (TLS, cryptography) and calm production-debugging skills
  • Architectural judgment — you simplify systems, not just add to them
  • 🤖 Fluent with AI dev tools — you use them to move faster and amplify your judgment, not replace it
  • Clear English; Asia–Europe time-zone overlap

✅ Big pluses

  • SOCKS5 & PROXY protocols
  • QUIC/UDP
  • RabbitMQ
  • gRPC
  • Kubernetes/Helm
  • MongoDB/Redis Cluster
  • E2E test design
  • mentoring

🚀 Why join

Genuine ownership, full autonomy, clear path to senior leadership. Low-level systems work with immediate production consequences — billing accuracy, abuse prevention, uptime under real traffic. Most backend jobs never touch this depth — and you'll do it on an AI-first team that ships fast.

🎁 Perks

  • 20 days paid leave ·
  • 5 sick days
  • USD 800/yr office expenses
  • quarterly profit-sharing

⏱️ Process

Application → 30-min intro call → take-home challenge → 1–3 founder interviews → offer.

We move fast.

Ready to own a mission-critical system and build the proxy platform developers love?

Apply now and let’s ship something great together.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
