Why Join AngelList

We’re solving some of the hardest problems in venture capital and private markets. You’ll work with a team that values precision, urgency, and long-term thinking. If you want to shape how startups are funded and built, this is the place.

About AngelList

We exist to accelerate innovation by increasing the number of successful startups in the world. We do this by building the financial infrastructure that makes it easier for more people to invest in world-changing companies.

AngelList is the nexus of venture capital and the startup community. We support $171B+ in assets and have powered investments into over 13,000 startups—over 300 of which are unicorns. Today, 57% of top-tier U.S. VC deals involve investors on AngelList. While our scale is large, our ambition is larger.

If you're excited to build the future of private markets, come build with us.

About the Role:

We're building the SDR function from scratch. Not just someone to work leads. Someone who can design the system, own the first impression with prospects who've never heard of us, and make our AEs dramatically more effective using every tool available, including AI, to do it.
You'll report to our Head of Sales and sit between marketing and sales, responsible for qualification, discovery, and making sure every opportunity that reaches an AE is worth their time. The person who owns the framework is the same person running the first conversation. Your job is unlocking the right GPs: identifying the GPs building the future of private markets and converting attention into pipeline. We measure results, not activity. Part prospecting, part systems-building, part brand ambassador. There's no playbook. You'll write it.

Responsibilities

  • Own inbound and outbound qualification. Every lead, worked with speed and rigor.
  • Run first conversations that uncover real business need and set AEs up to close, not re-qualify.
  • Design the qualification framework: the questions, signals, and criteria that move a deal forward.
  • Build and manage the SDR tech stack, from sequencing to scoring to AI-assisted workflows.
  • Track pipeline quality metrics and make lead quality a shared measure with marketing.
  • Shape how this function grows. The systems you build will define how we scale.

What we’re looking for

  • Cold emailed someone relevant and got a meeting
  • Tracked their own pipeline before anyone asked
  • Has strong opinions about why most discovery calls fail
  • Built something in Clay, Apollo, or an AI workflow just to understand what was possible
  • Has owned something end-to-end: the system and the results
  • Bonus: Familiar with private markets, GPs, or institutional LPs

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
