Buzz Solutions is seeking a strategic Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our growing team and drive adoption of our AI solutions within the electric utility sector.

Our innovative solutions help electric utility companies enhance grid reliability, optimize operations, and ensure efficient energy distribution. We are at the forefront of transforming the electric utility industry through advanced AI technology.

As a BDR, you will play a critical role in expanding our customer base by owning a territory of enterprise utility accounts and driving new business opportunities within it. This is not a high-volume, top-of-funnel dialing role- it is a strategic, account-based role, where success comes from deep account research, thoughtful planning, and precise, well-timed execution. You will engage prospective clients, qualify opportunities, and set up meetings for our sales team, while working cross-functionally with sales, external partners, solutions, and other teams to align on strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a defined territory of enterprise utility accounts, developing and executing strategic account plans to build a strong, qualified pipeline.
  • Conduct deep research on each account (organizational structure, priorities, initiatives, and key stakeholders) before engaging, to inform a tailored outreach strategy.
  • Execute intentional, multi-channel outreach (phone, email, social, in-person events) designed around each account's specific challenges and business drivers, rather than high-volume dialing.
  • Engage with prospects to understand their needs, challenges, and budget. Assess fit and ensure leads meet our criteria for the sales team.
  • Schedule meetings and product demonstrations for the sales team with qualified leads.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and market dynamics to effectively position our solutions and provide strategic insight to the broader team.
  • Act quickly and decisively on new information- adjusting account plans and outreach in response to market signals, account developments, or shifting priorities.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of interactions and account plans in our CRM system. Track performance metrics and report on progress regularly.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of sales experience in a quota-carrying or customer-facing role (e.g., account executive, sales development, customer success, business development, or similar). Direct XDR experience is not required, but a track record of success in sales-related work is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own a territory or book of accounts, including building and executing strategic account plans.
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to synthesize information about an account's business, organization, and initiatives into an actionable outreach strategy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and compellingly.
  • Basic understanding of AI technology and its applications in the electric utility industry, or the willingness to quickly learn and stay current with our solutions.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally to align strategy and drive results.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the judgment to prioritize and act quickly on the highest-value opportunities within a territory.
