But first, our values

The opportunity

Altruist is entering an exciting phase, and we're looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our Client Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving high‑quality top‑of‑funnel activity and generating qualified opportunities for our sales team through a mix of inbound qualification and targeted outbound prospecting.

If you’re passionate about sales, energized by high‑volume outreach, and excited to build a career in a fast‑growing fintech environment, this is the role for you.

Your impact

  • Qualify inbound leads (e.g., marketing‑qualified leads) and efficiently route them to the appropriate account owners with clear context and next‑step recommendations.
  • Drive high‑volume, multi‑channel outbound prospecting, with phone as your primary channel, supplemented by email and professional social platforms (e.g., LinkedIn), to generate new sales‑qualified opportunities.
  • Maintain a consistent daily outreach cadence (e.g., targeted calls and total touches per day) that aligns with team goals and supports a healthy, predictable pipeline.
  • Execute weekly, theme‑based prospecting campaigns informed by market developments, territory priorities, and guidance from sales leadership.
  • Use independent judgment to qualify prospects, determining when a lead is ready to enter the sales pipeline and be handed off to the appropriate sales owner.
  • Leverage consultative selling skills to build trust with advisors, educate them, and guide them through early stages of the buying journey.
  • Quickly develop a deep understanding of the Altruist platform and core features in order to clearly articulate value and differentiation in first‑touch conversations.
  • Systematically capture prospect and client feedback to help inform broader company priorities (e.g., product roadmap, marketing campaigns, sales plays).
  • Use Salesforce to rigorously track your activities, conversion metrics, and KPIs, and to understand the impact of your lead flow on territory funnel and results.
  • Contribute to the sales team’s goal of creating predictable, scalable growth by meeting SLAs, maintaining accurate and complete records in Salesforce, and proactively identifying ways to improve team performance.
  • Demonstrate coachability and a growth mindset, actively seeking and applying feedback from sales leadership to increase your effectiveness and efficiency.

What you bring

  • Experience - At least 2 years of experience as a sales professional in a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization, with a track record of meeting or exceeding quotas in a fast‑paced environment
    • We will also consider early-career candidates with strong academic or internship experience in finance or financial technology who can demonstrate clear sales aptitude and drive
    • Ability to quickly understand complex product features and explain how they create value for customers in simple, compelling language.
    • Comfort with high‑volume outbound outreach, particularly phone‑based prospecting, and the resilience to handle rejection while maintaining energy and professionalism.
  • Education - Ideally looking for a B.A. / B.S. degree in relevant fields such as Business, Marketing, etc.
  • Technical aptitude - You’re technologically savvy and can easily get up to speed on modern tech stacks (i.e., Google Suite, Slack, Salesforce, Zendesk, etc.)
  • Ownership - The pride you put into every aspect of your work is unparalleled and undeniable
  • Superb communication - intentional dialogue is a superpower. You listen as well as you share your perspective with others.
  • Resilience - We’re inspired by your unwavering determination to achieve success, no matter the adversity you face along way
  • Assurance - Your confidence is brilliant, yet ego-less. You possess a strong knowledge base, the ability to discover the unknown, and are open to differing perspectives.
  • Creative problem solving - Identifying the problem is simply not enough. You’re instinctually creative with your approach in finding solutions to roadblocks.

Bonus points

  • Prior experience at a fast‑growing B2B startup.
  • Experience selling into financial advisor, RIA, or wealth management audiences.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Compensation & Leveling

This role has a target OTE of $115,000, combining base salary and variable incentive compensation. Final compensation is individualized and based on experience and qualifications. Equity and benefits are included for full-time employees.

What we bring

Attracting and retaining top-tier talent is a priority. We are proud of the culture we’ve built and are cognizant of the ever-changing professional landscape. Our dynamic offering of perks and benefits are tailored for you to feel your best while doing your best.

  • Stunning, amenity-filled office spaces in Culver City, CA, San Francisco, CA, and Dallas, TX. Our offices are intentionally designed for comfort, collaboration, and productivity.
  • Competitive total compensation.
  • Premium healthcare, dental, and vision insurance plans (HMO and PPO).
  • 401k savings plan with a 4% match and immediate vesting.
  • 16 week paid parental leave after one year of employment.
  • Professional growth and development opportunities including an employee mobility program and an annual L&D budget allocation for each employee.
  • Company perks program (includes discounts on pet insurance, fitness, cell phone plans, and travel, etc.).
  • Financial guidance program (includes counseling on navigating debt, tracking personal spend, saving and planning goals, home-purchasing preparedness, etc.).
  • One month work from anywhere policy (with the exception of a few countries).

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package, along with a bonus program for eligible roles. For salaried positions, a salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, internal pay equity, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs regularly to ensure fair, equitable, and competitive pay. At Altruist, we are committed to providing fair, equitable, and competitive compensation by leveraging market data to inform our pay bands. Base salaries will be reviewed at regular intervals throughout the year, typically in conjunction with performance review cycles. By evaluating compensation on a regular basis, we are able to reward high performance and ensure all employees have opportunities for growth.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Altruist we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role, but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
