ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Solutions Architect at Retell AI, you’ll own the technical success of our largest self-serve customers — from first technical touch through production deployment and expansion. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, helping customers unlock high-value Voice AI use cases, move quickly from pilot to scale, and grow alongside the platform.

This is a hands-on, full-cycle role that spans pre-sale technical discovery, implementation, and post-sale expansion. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Telephony teams to unblock complex integrations, shape best practices, and turn real customer needs into platform improvements. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll play a critical role in scaling Retell’s PLG motion into a durable enterprise engine, with a clear path to building and leading this function as we grow.

You’ll join a fast-moving, product-led startup with strong enterprise pull and clear product-market fit. This role offers deep ownership, direct customer impact, and the autonomy to design and execute end-to-end solutions while influencing how Retell defines customer success at scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Sale (Sales Engineering)

  • Own a portfolio of large self-serve accounts, building deep relationships with stakeholders to drive adoption strategies.

  • Act as a Subject-Matter Expert on the Voice AI platform, conducting technical workshops and demos to prove value.

  • Identify high-value use cases within customer accounts to set the stage for successful deployments.

Implementation (Solutions Architecting)

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor, guiding customers from pilot to production at scale.

  • Diagnose integration challenges and optimize Voice AI configurations for maximum performance.

  • Orchestrate solutions with Product/Engineer and Telephony experts to resolve complex implementation blockers.

Post-Sale (Expansion & Enablement)

  • Identify expansion opportunities through usage analytics and strategic recommendations to drive ARR growth.

  • Create internal playbooks and document best practices to scale customer success capabilities.

  • Mentor junior members and translate customer feedback into feature requests for the product roadmap.

YOU MIGHT THRIVE IF
  • Strong Technical Foundation: 3+ years in solutions engineering, technical account management, or customer-facing technical roles, with hands-on experience building or integrating software using APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern developer tools.

  • Customer-First Problem Solver: Demonstrated ability to unblock enterprise customers in fast-moving SaaS or AI environments, bringing urgency, empathy, and structure to high-stakes implementations.

  • Sales & Expansion Experience: 3+ years in sales engineering or technical sales roles, with a proven ability to drive adoption and expansion in PLG or self-serve-to-enterprise motions (e.g., Twilio, Dialogflow, Zoom, Gong).

  • Cross-Functional Operator: Comfortable partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales to translate customer needs into clear technical solutions and product roadmap inputs.

  • Clear, Persuasive Communicator: Skilled at explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, using a consultative approach to build trust and influence decisions.

  • Growth-Oriented Mindset: Excited by voice AI and emerging technologies, with a track record of thriving in high-growth startups where ownership, ambiguity, and speed are part of the job.

  • Product & AI Fluency: Deep familiarity with LLMs, conversational AI, and voice systems, with the ability to confidently demo and creatively apply Retell’s platform to real customer use cases.

JOB DETAILS

On Target Earnings: $190k – $240K + Offers equity

Location: Redwood City, CA, US

  2. Technical Deep Dive & Chat with our CEO (1hr 15min): In this round, we’ll evaluate your technical abilities, focusing on debugging, API integration, and provide an opportunity to speak with our CEO.

    • Discuss how you engage with customers, identify their needs, and design effective solutions.

    • We’ll assess your ability to reason through complex challenges and communicate clearly under pressure.
