Director of Business Development
About the roleÂ
We are hiring a Director of Business Development to help amplify our product and growth trajectory via mutually beneficial partnerships. This is not a sales role.
The business development team helps build “first-of-its-kind” strategic partnerships with a variety of companies that help Chime drive incremental user growth, provide new features for Chime members, and drive incremental revenue for Chime. We believe strongly in the power of partnerships to create differentiated growth and product experiences.
We are looking for a Director level hire with excellent product instincts to identify high impact verticals, size and prioritize opportunities, build relationships, and structure partnerships that add value to both Chime as well as the partner. As you launch partnerships, you’ll also help to grow them, manage the initial relationship, and seek other areas to grow what we do with our partners in order to have impact on both Chime and its millions of members.
This role will report to Chime’s VP, Business Development, a member of the Chime Executive Team.
This job cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect toÂ
- Strategically nurture existing and new relationships with senior leaders at other companies that can help champion Chime.
- Craft business cases for partnerships in new areas to help achieve Chime’s goals.
- Work closely with our strategic finance team to help analyze the potential impact of specific partnerships.
- Negotiate deal terms in conjunction with our legal team in pursuit of identified goals.
- Present new partnership ideas to senior leaders across the organization.
- Drive alignment with key stakeholders (including finance, marketing, product, and compliance) internally.
To thrive in this role, you have  Â
- 10+ years of work experience in a product focused and customer obsessed culture, including 7+ in strategy / business development / partnership roles. This isn’t a sales role, and while we value some Account Executive / SDR experience, we’ve found it is typically not the right fit for this role.
- A track record of authentic relationship building, both internally and externally.
- Strong analytical grounding and systematic thought process, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Career history in financial technology or related domain.
- Experience in creatively negotiating and structuring complex partnerships.
- An operationally focused attitude to help think about partnership implications on a variety of teams down the road, and an ability to implement strategies to fully realize the partnership’s goals.
