Role Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Revenue & Projects Sr. Accountant to join our growing accounting and finance team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end accounting for our revenue streams and to be operational power plant projects. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with revenue recognition standards, managing deferred project costs and assets, managing power plants under construction, and serving as the primary owner for all internal controls related to revenue and project accounting. What you'll do:
  • Revenue & Deferred Revenue Accounting

    • Revenue Recognition: Manage all revenue accounting processes, ensuring strict compliance with GAAP and ASC 606 guidelines.

    • Contract Review: Review complex customer agreements, tolling agreements, energy service contracts, and interconnect agreements to determine proper accounting treatment.

    • Deferred Revenue: Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue schedules, ensuring accurate timing of revenue release.

    • Billing & Invoicing: Oversee the generation of project-related billings and ensure timely reconciliation with the general ledger.

  • Project Accounting & Asset Management

    • Project Lifecycle Tracking: Track costs from Construction-in-Progress (CIP) through to operational capitalization for power plant projects.

    • Deferred Project Costs: Monitor and reconcile deferred project costs, ensuring appropriate capitalization or expense recognition.

    • Fixed Asset and Operating Power Plant Support: Maintain the fixed asset register for operating power plants and act as the financial point of contact for plant operations, analyzing operational expenses (OpEx) and project-level cash flows.

  • Internal Controls & Process Ownership

    • Control Ownership: Own, maintain, and execute internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) specifically for the revenue cycle, deferred costs, and project asset capitalization.

    • SOX Compliance: Ensure all revenue and project accounting processes comply with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements or equivalent internal control frameworks.

    • Documentation & Testing: Maintain up-to-date process narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices; coordinate quarterly and annual control testing.

    • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify control gaps or operational risks within project accounting systems and design/implement remediation plans.

  • Month-End Close, Reporting & Compliance

    • Journal Entries & Reconciliations: Prepare and post month-end journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations for all revenue, project asset, and deferred accounts.

    • Variance Analysis: Perform monthly and quarterly flux analysis on project revenue and margins to support management reporting.

    • Audit Support: Act as the primary liaison for external auditors regarding revenue and project cycles, providing required audit schedules and control evidence.

    • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline project accounting workflows and automate routine processes while maintaining strict control integrity.

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused heavily on revenue recognition, project/asset accounting, and internal control execution (SOX).

  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion a plus).

  • Able to work independently with little instruction and can adapt to change.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and adjust schedules to meet deadlines.

  • CPA or CPA candidate is highly preferred.

  • Experience within the energy, infrastructure, or utilities sector a plus.


Where you'll work:

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
