About the role

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for being the subject matter expert on all things accounting for the company. The Senior Accountant has solid foundational accounting knowledge and is eager for start up experience and the opportunity for quick career growth. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will work closely with other members of the finance team and cross functionally with other departments. The Senior Accountant will create many processes from scratch and will drive the development of best practices across the finance organization. The Senior Accountant is an ambitious self-starter who loves to learn, takes initiative, and thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end and year-end financial close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and support preparation of the financial statements.

  • Technical accounting research and documentation to support accounting positions, policies & procedures and significant and non-recurring transactions.

  • Maintain and execute internal controls, documentation, and compliance procedures to support audit readiness.

  • Perform monthly due diligence reporting to validate financial statement fluctuations.

  • Support the Controller to successfully complete annual financial statement audits, preparing support for auditors, liaising with external consultants as needed.

  • Gather and organize data for external tax professionals to support Federal, State, and local tax filings.

  • Support reporting and ad hoc analyses, as necessary.

  • Provide accounting support for system implementations, testing data integrity and accounting system integrations

  • Identify and execute process improvements to increase efficiency using automation and electronic tools.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive professional accounting experience, with exposure to complex close cycles.

  • CPA license.

  • Strong proficiency with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Netsuite and G-suite.

  • Experience with multi-entity operations or healthcare accounting processes and procedures.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Physical Demands

Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
