Seeking a Senior Accountant to manage property-level accounting, reconciliations, and lender reporting for real estate assets, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
Our esteemed SelectLeaders client, a privately held and highly respected real estate investment firm, is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to lead property-level accounting, CAM/NNN reconciliations, and lender reporting across a portfolio of retail and office assets. This role works directly with ownership and third-party property managers in a lean, collaborative, fully in-office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process across multiple real estate entities
- Maintain accurate general ledgers for numerous property LLCs
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and all escrow accounts (TI/LC/reserves)
- Oversee AP/AR and collaborate with property managers on rent collections and operating expenses
- Ensure timely and accurate property-level financial data from third-party managers
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including cash flow summaries
- Complete annual CAM/NNN reconciliations for multi-tenant retail and office properties
- Monitor property-level cash flow, reserve balances, and partner distribution schedules
- Prepare quarterly lender reporting packages and ensure covenant compliance
- Provide ownership with clean, timely reporting and financial visibility
- Recommend process improvements and optimize AppFolio structure and workflows
- Oversee budget variance reporting and support annual budgeting
- Coordinate with external CPA firm on tax preparation and annual filings
- Support property tax payments, insurance renewals, and other compliance items
- Maintain and improve the chart of accounts and accounting system (AppFolio preferred)
- Serve as liaison between accounting and property management teams
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and uphold general ledger integrity
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience within commercial real estate
- Strong background with retail and office properties
- CAM/NNN reconciliation experience required
- Experience with lender reporting strongly preferred
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and accountable
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with principals and property managers
- Family office experience encouraged
- Thrives in a small, quiet, team-oriented office environment
- Experience preparing comprehensive financial reporting packages
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- AppFolio experience preferred but not required
