SENIOR ANALYTICS ENGINEER

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid Role)

Who We Are:

At Vizcom, we're reimagining how physical products are designed by fusing AI with human creativity to help designers move from sketch to reality at lightning speed. We're a small, fast-moving team that values initiative, experimentation, and an eye for beauty. As a learning-driven company, we believe good decisions come from good data, and we're building a foundation where both humans and AI can turn that data into smarter ones.

The Role:

As our Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll be the second hire on the data team, working alongside the Head of Data as the primary data partner to Product, Finance, Marketing, and Sales. You'll work across the stack: designing pipelines and semantic models in BigQuery and Omni, then using that foundation to build the dashboards and run the analyses that shape

how we price, prioritize, and grow. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys moving between analyst and engineer work, and who wants to help build a data function from the ground up rather than inherit one.

You'll also play a central role in how Vizcom uses AI internally. Our BI stack is built around Claude and Omni, and we need someone who can shape the semantic layer so both humans and AI agents can get reliable, trustworthy answers from it.

How You’ll Do It:

  • Partner with Product, Finance, Marketing, and Sales to scope what matters, define metrics, and translate business questions into analyses.

  • Partner with engineering on product instrumentation. Help decide what events we capture and how they're structured to enable robust analysis.

  • Own the analysis end-to-end, from data modeling through dashboards, readouts, and ongoing monitoring.

  • Build and maintain the semantic layer in Omni so both humans and AI agents (Claude) can query the business reliably. Govern metric definitions, resolve discrepancies between sources, and make self-serve the default path.

  • Design and maintain data pipelines in BigQuery to support analytics and reporting, including ETL for new data sources as they come online.

  • Inform architectural decisions on transformation, orchestration, and tooling as the stack matures.

  • Partner with the Head of Data on prioritization, help shape the team's roadmap, and identify opportunities to improve how we work.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in analytics, analytics engineering, or a hybrid role, with specific examples of dashboards and analyses that drove business decisions.

  • Fluent SQL and hands-on experience with BigQuery or a comparable cloud warehouse.

  • Technically fluent beyond SQL. You're comfortable in a codebase, reason about how systems fit together, and contribute substantively to architectural conversations with engineering. Hands-on experience in a general-purpose language like Python or TypeScript.

  • Semantic modeling experience in Omni, LookML, Cube, MetricFlow, or similar. Omni experience is a strong plus.

  • Solid grounding in database architecture and ETL, with hands-on experience designing pipelines.

  • Experience analyzing product feature launches: defining success metrics, reviewing instrumentation, and calling the results as they are.

  • Strong stakeholder skills. You can gather requirements from non-technical partners, push back thoughtfully when the ask and the real need diverge, and communicate findings clearly in both writing and conversation.

  • You've integrated AI meaningfully into how you work. You can speak specifically to how you use it, where it works, where it doesn't, and how you've developed judgment about when to trust output.

  • Comfortable switching between analyst and engineer modes, and across domains. Product retention one day, finance or marketing performance the next.

  • As a colleague, you enjoy planning, executing, winning and celebrating as a team

  • Experience working remotely and/or in a startup environment

Benefits While Working At Vizcom:

  • 100% employer sponsored medical care for employees, 25% towards dependents

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
