About Abby Care: Powering the future of care at home for all of America.

Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. America is facing a growing care crisis. Millions more people need care at home than ever. Over 50 million family caregivers support loved ones without the tools, training, or recognition they deserve.
We believe families are the largest untapped caregiving workforce in America, and that technology can help them deliver better care while driving stronger outcomes and greater transparency across the healthcare system.
Abby Care combines clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality care at home. Our platform helps health plans and government partners better understand, verify, and improve care in the home. We expand access to care, reduce reliance on higher-cost settings, and help ensure public dollars are spent effectively.
We are proud to partner with leading health plans, providers, and community organizations and are backed by top VCs. We envision a future where family-led care is a core part of the healthcare system. Abby Care is building that future.
Join us in solving one of the most important challenges of our time.

The Opportunity:

We’re hiring a Senior Associate, Research & Market Strategy to become AbbyCare’s resident expert on the policies, programs, and market dynamics that drive where and how we grow. You’ll build the forward-looking intelligence engine that makes our launches possible - researching states, programs, and opportunities 6–12 months ahead of when our operations teams ever touch a new market.

This is a research-driven, high-ownership role sitting within our Expansion & Strategic Initiatives team. You’ll own a set of living knowledge assets - a state policy library, a competitive intelligence record, and an acquisition pipeline - and you’ll translate that research into the launch readiness assessments and Medicaid applications that unblock our growth. Over time, you’ll become the person leadership turns to when they need to understand a new state, a competitor’s move, or whether a new bet is worth pursuing.

This role is ideal for someone who loves going deep on complex, regulated landscapes, who takes pride in being the most informed person in the room on a topic, and who wants their research to directly shape a fast-growing healthcare company’s growth strategy.

This is a Full-Time Hybrid opportunity based in San Francisco, CA.

What you’ll work on:

Policy & Program Research

  • Research state-level policies and Medicaid programs for target launch states, 6–12 months ahead of launch, to support the expansion roadmap

  • Build and maintain a living state policy library - the authoritative internal reference for program eligibility, reimbursement structures, regulatory requirements, and operational implications by state

  • Keep records current as policies evolve, and proactively surface changes that affect our roadmap or existing markets

  • Become AbbyCare’s resident expert on the programs and policies that enable family caregiving models across states

Competitive & Market Intelligence

  • Research and maintain an ongoing record of competitors - their footprint, positioning, program participation, and strategic moves

  • Surface competitive signals and market shifts to leadership through regular briefings

  • Track the broader market landscape to inform where AbbyCare should consider expanding next

Acquisition & Partnership Sourcing

  • Source and qualify potential acquisition partners that could accelerate entry into target markets

  • Maintain a documented pipeline of opportunities with the rationale, signals, and fit assessment for each

Launch Enablement

  • Prepare and submit Medicaid applications to support market launches, on time relative to launch timeline gates

  • Deliver structured launch readiness assessments for target states ahead of go/no-go decisions

  • Flag policy gaps and regulatory risks early enough to shape the launch plan

What you’ll have:

Experience

  • 5+ years in research-intensive roles - policy research, market intelligence, healthcare/Medicaid analysis, strategy, corporate development, or similar

  • Demonstrated ability to become a deep subject-matter expert in complex, regulated domains

  • Experience building and maintaining knowledge assets (libraries, trackers, databases) that others rely on

  • Comfortable operating independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Research & Analytical Thinking

  • Exceptional at finding, synthesizing, and structuring information from non-obvious sources

  • Strong judgment on what matters - able to separate signal from noise and surface what leadership needs to know

  • Rigorous and organized; produces work others can trust and act on without re-checking

  • Able to translate dense policy and regulatory detail into clear, actionable implications

Domain & Execution

  • Familiarity with Medicaid, state healthcare programs, or regulated healthcare markets strongly preferred

  • Experience preparing regulatory or program applications is a plus

  • Self-directed and reliable on deadlines - especially where launch timelines depend on their output

Mindset

  • Intellectually curious and energized by going deep on hard, technical topics

  • Takes ownership of being the most informed person in the room on their domain

  • Pragmatic - research is in service of decisions and outcomes, not research for its own sake

  • Comfortable feeding strategic inputs upward while letting others own the final call

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.

  • Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.

  • Generous paid time off. We provide policies that allow you to recharge along with 10 paid company holidays.

  • Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).

  • Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide paid leave, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.

Our Values
  1. Families First
Redefining healthcare starts with how we treat the parents and children we serve. We go above and beyond for every family, building strong, lasting relationships. We continually ask ourselves, “Would we want this for our own families?”

  2. Urgency with Precision
Millions of families are waiting for care, and they cannot wait, therefore this is not your typical 9 to 5 job. We match their urgency with our own, delivering exceptional care without compromise. Here, speed and excellence go hand in hand.

  3. Relentlessly Resourceful
As an ambitious startup, we adapt quickly and make the most of limited time and resources. We solve challenges with creativity to deliver results without unnecessary complexity.

  4. Purpose with Positivity
We take our mission seriously while never losing sight of the people behind the work. Respect, kindness, memes, and coffee make us stronger as a team and better for the families we serve.

  5. Driven to Redefine What’s Possible
We are here to make healthcare better, which means asking hard questions, challenging outdated systems, and finding smarter, more compassionate ways to deliver care.
