Lead sales and relationship development across the startup and venture ecosystem. Win new business from founders, manage opportunities through close, build relationships with venture firms and accelerators, and host events that generate meaningful connections. Collaborate with partnerships and relationship management teams on ecosystem initiatives, communicate Mercury’s fintech and banking tools, and share market insights to inform product and ecosystem strategy. This is a quota-carrying role with 25–30% travel to industry events.

In the early days of Silicon Valley, the most powerful ideas spread not through ads or algorithms, but through conversation. It was founders sharing lessons over coffee, investors making connections at late-night dinners, communities forming around ambition and belief. These moments weren’t loud, but they were transformative.

At Mercury, we believe modern banking* should feel the same way - powerful, personal, and effortless. Our mission is to simplify finance for ambitious founders so they can spend less time managing money and more time building what matters.

We’re looking for a Senior Associate, Venture Ecosystem Sales to bring that philosophy to life: someone who can turn introductions into opportunities, events into relationships, and conversations into lasting customer relationships. You’ll be at the forefront of Mercury’s connection with the startup ecosystem, bridging founders, investors, and the tools that help them move faster.

While referrals are not the only way into an interview, working your network to get a Founder / VC introduction to one of our teammates (James Deacon, Holly Hanson, Charlie Blank, Alexander Giordano, Nick Dellis) will show us that you can already do part of the job!

*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead with empathy. Win new business, taking deals from first meeting to close with clarity, trust, and a genuine understanding of founders’ needs.
  • Curate meaningful connections. Design, attend, and host intimate dinners, thoughtful events, and gatherings that spark real value for founders and investors alongside our strategic partnerships and relationship management teams.
  • Grow the network. Work within the revenue team to build lasting 1:1 relationships across top venture firms, accelerators, and early-stage communities.
  • Collaborate deeply. Partner with our VC Partnerships and Relationship Management teams to co-create portfolio programs, ecosystem events, and strategic initiatives.
  • Champion simplicity. Help founders see how Mercury’s tools make business banking effortless like smarter controls to seamless payments.
  • Close the loop. Share insights from the field to inform future product direction and strengthen Mercury’s connection to the startup world.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
  • Are based in New York or San Francisco and are energized by in-person connection. Given the in-person components of the role, travel to industry events may account for 25-30% of your time.
  • Know how to sell with craft and lead with understanding, not persuasion. This is a quota carrying sales role.
  • Have credibility within the startup and venture ecosystem through any combination of: investing, sales, partnerships, community experience or even being a founder yourself.
  • Love bringing great people together and crafting experiences that feel personal, not performative.
  • Are dependable, detail-oriented, and thoughtful in every follow-up. You are a self starter and comfortable working on your own or as part of a team, even in ambiguity.
  • Care deeply about quality and value creating something meaningful more than just moving quickly.
  • Believe fintech should feel intuitive, not transactional.
How success is measured:
  • Market performance. Direct new logos and gross profit generated from your in-market Sales efforts.
  • Founder and investor impact. The strength, quality, and longevity of relationships that lead to measurable growth.
  • Community resonance. Events and experiences that build trust and expand Mercury’s network influence with our partnerships and relationship management teams.
  • Collaboration and insight. Field learnings and feedback that inform product and ecosystem strategy.
