About the Position

The Milken Institute is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Senior Associate, Web Content to join the Digital team within Marketing and Communications. This role supports the day-to-day production and upkeep of MilkenInstitute.org and affiliated microsites.

This is a hands-on role for someone with experience in digital content or web production who is ready to take their skills to the next level. In a supportive, collaborative environment, the Senior Associate will own recurring web production work, including building and updating pages, publishing and scheduling content, managing incoming requests, and conducting quality assurance, while having the opportunity to try new things and grow.

Working closely with the Director of Web Content and Strategy and, as needed, web development and technology partners, the Senior Associate will contribute to larger projects and build skills across web production, user experience, information architecture, accessibility, SEO/GEO, analytics, and digital strategy, taking on increasingly complex work over time.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, responsive, and attentive to detail, with strong follow-through and a sense of ownership. These qualities are essential to the role. They are also curious and proactive, communicate when questions or challenges arise, take initiative within the scope of their role, and are receptive to feedback and coaching.

The Senior Associate reports to the Director of Web Content and Strategy on the Digital team and works closely with colleagues across Publications, Social Media, Marketing, Media Relations, Design, Technology, Events, Business Development, and Pillars.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means that day-to-day web production moves reliably from request to completion; stakeholders receive timely and professional communication; published work is accurate, polished, and thoroughly QAed; and recurring responsibilities are handled consistently and with care.

Over time, the successful Senior Associate will develop a deeper understanding of the Institute’s website, audiences, standards, and workflows and build confidence across web production and digital best practices. As their skills grow, they will have opportunities to take on more complex page builds and projects, contribute ideas, and expand their knowledge of UX, accessibility, SEO/GEO, analytics, and web development.

Responsibilities

  • Web Production and Publishing: Build, edit, publish, schedule, feature, and maintain content across MilkenInstitute.org and affiliated microsites using Drupal, including landing pages, publications, biographies, event content, sponsor content, and other institutional web pages, according to established editorial priorities and content calendars.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot routine content and CMS issues, ask questions when needed, and work with the Director and technical partners to resolve more complex issues.
  • Request Management: Monitor and manage assigned requests in Jira, acknowledge new work promptly, establish realistic timelines, communicate changes or blockers, and follow assignments through completion.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate clearly and professionally with technical and non-technical colleagues, ask questions to understand requests, and keep stakeholders informed about status and timing.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough editorial, visual, functional, responsive, and link QA before and after publication. Proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure a consistently polished user experience.
  • Project Support: Help plan and deliver web projects of varying size, from single-page updates to larger builds, in partnership with the Director and stakeholders.
  • User Experience and Accessibility: Apply established best practices in usability, information architecture, accessibility, SEO/GEO, and digital content presentation to day-to-day production decisions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve recurring workflows, documentation, content quality, and publishing efficiency, and contribute ideas that strengthen the Institute’s digital presence.
  • Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, digital media, technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, along with approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in web production, digital publishing, website management, or a related field.

  • Content Writing and Editing: Write and edit clear, concise, engaging web copy, including promotional copy, page content, and SEO/GEO-focused content, with guidance and review from the Director of Web Content and Strategy as appropriate.
  • Digital Tools: Familiarity with web analytics and AI-assisted tools, with an interest in using emerging technologies to support content production, QA, research, and workflow efficiency.
  • Organization and Follow-Through: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests, set priorities, meet deadlines, communicate status, and reliably follow work through to completion, using tools such as Jira and Airtable.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail across written content and visual presentation, including proofreading, formatting, links, imagery, metadata, and consistency with established brand and web standards.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated responsiveness when working with colleagues, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Initiative and Growth Mindset: Willingness to investigate problems, suggest possible solutions, ask thoughtful questions, seek guidance when needed, and incorporate feedback while building skills and taking on greater responsibility over time.
