Full-time / Onsite (5 days/week)
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Mochi Health, you’ll be responsible for the core systems and data channels that facilitate a world-class experience for our customers, pharmacy technicians and many more team members who interface with our proprietary platform each and every day. You will work with talented engineers, building out cutting-edge systems from Machine Learning path finding algorithms to hand-crafted video encoding protocols, all in service of providing deeper capabilities and insights to the customer experience. Take advantage of developments in artificial intelligence to bring innovative and exciting new features to our customers. These are just a few of the intriguing challenges you might be faced with at Mochi Health.
What You’ll Do- Lead the development, optimization and expansion of our core backend services. (Typescript/Python)
- Drive best practices in performance, security, and scalability as we scale rapidly over the next 6/12 months.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design and Frontend teams to deliver seamless, intuitive user experiences.
- Own key architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and elevating back-end excellence across the company.
- Build out data-driven services and systems to bolster the customer experience.
- Influence engineering culture, fostering innovation and technical ownership within the team.
- Startup mindset: you thrive in fast-moving environments, take ownership, and love solving problems at scale.
- 7+ years of back-end development experience, with deep expertise with Typescript/Python.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and shipping scalable, high-performance systems to support web and mobile applications.
- Strong knowledge of modern back-end tooling. (ESLint, CI/CD pipelines)
- Fluent in bash scripting and linux/unix commands
- A passion for creating fast, optimised and elegant solutions to difficult problems.
- Expertise with AI code generation tools
- Bonus: Experience with WebSockets, real-time data, compiled code languages, or healthcare-related applications.

The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $250,000 to $300,000, in addition to equity and benefits. The salary range listed in each job posting represents the minimum and maximum targets for new hire salaries across all locations. Actual compensation within this range is determined by various factors, such as job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and location.

Mochi Health is an in-person company for roles based in our San Francisco, CA and Kirkland, WA offices. Our team works together in person five days a week to foster collaboration, innovation, and strong connections. We believe that face-to-face interaction builds a culture of excellence and allows us to deliver the best outcomes for the patients and providers we serve.
For office-based roles, the standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Actual hours may vary depending on business needs and role responsibilities. All employees receive meal and rest breaks in accordance with applicable state and local laws.
For designated remote roles, this in-person policy does not apply.
