Overview
About AIX
Hundreds of millions of people start their day with something AI Experiences (AIX) built: asking Copilot a question, searching on Bing, opening a new tab in Edge. Parents planning a trip. Students cramming for an exam. Engineers debugging at 2am. Small business owners writing their first pitch deck. AIX is the part of Microsoft that makes AI feel intuitive, useful, and people-first in all of those moments.

About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Brand Designer who works where brand identity meets product. Embedded with product teams, you'll translate our brand into the experience itself — carrying brand principles through visual and narrative expression, into the design system, and out to shipped implementation. Your blend of identity craft and systems thinking will help build a consistent, distinctive brand presence across Copilot touchpoints. This is a hands-on role for a designer who cares as much about concept as execution, and who raises the bar for peers through their own work.

Responsibilities
  • Apply and extend our brand identity across product features, flows, and user journeys, turning brand principles into tangible experiences.
  • Own the brand expression of the surfaces you work on, from visual language through tone and narrative detail.
  • Partner with brand, product, and engineering to carry brand principles from design system into shipped implementation without losing fidelity.
  • Deliver high-craft brand experiences in AI applications, with attention to narrative, quality, and positive societal impact.
  • Contribute to and extend the design system so it expresses the brand, holds up across products and platforms, and is efficient for engineering to implement.
  • Help define and articulate the product's visual and verbal style within your area, partnering with marketing, engineering, UX, and research to maintain consistency.
  • Communicate clearly across teams, managing dependencies, schedules, and design integrity from concept through implementation.
  • Mentor designers and model a high standard for craft and inclusivity.
  • Turn brand and product goals into concrete design directions with measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of experimentation, feedback, and continuous learning.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A portfolio showing 3+ years of brand work applied in product contexts — identity systems alongside evidence of how those systems held up on real product surfaces
  • Demonstrated ability to connect brand principles to design system architecture and engineering implementation with fidelity and scalability
  • Experience contributing to creative direction for complex, cross-platform products and building alignment across multifunctional teams
  • High level of craft in visual and experiential design, with the ability to translate brand narratives into intuitive digital experiences
  • Comfort using qualitative and quantitative insight to refine and validate brand expression in product
  • Desire or experience collaborating with engineering teams to ensure brand is reflected accurately in implementation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Contributes to a positive, inclusive team culture that bridges brand and product thinking

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
