 The M365 Core team is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to join the executive office team supporting the President of M365 Core during a pivotal period of growth and transformation.

This role is a unique opportunity to help shape the narrative, culture, and communications strategy for an organization at the center of Microsoft's productivity and AI ambitions. The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, storyteller, builder, and advisor.  We are looking for someone energized by creating clarity from complexity, building new communications frameworks from the ground up, and helping leaders inspire teams through change.

As the communications leader for the organization, you will define and drive the leader’s overall communications strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, organizational goals, and cultural aspirations. You will lead internal and external communications, executive engagement, events, and social strategies, while helping establish a cohesive voice and identity for a growing organization.

Success in this role requires creativity, curiosity, and a strong bias toward action. You will develop compelling narratives that connect strategy to impact, translate complex technical and business concepts into meaningful stories, and create scalable communications approaches that foster understanding, engagement, and alignment. You will advise senior leaders on messaging and change communications, oversee the development of key content including briefing materials, presentations, videos, and executive communications, and mentor a community of communications professionals across the organization.

You will also leverage data and employee insights to continuously refine communications strategies, measure effectiveness, and identify new opportunities to strengthen connection and engagement. As new technologies and AI-powered tools reshape how leaders communicate with employees, you will help pioneer innovative approaches that create more meaningful dialogue and ensure a consistent experience across channels.

This role reports to the M365 Core Chief of Staff and works in close partnership with the M365 Core leadership team. It is an opportunity to help build something new, establishing the narratives, rhythms, and communications foundation that will shape the organization for years to come.

This position is based in Redmond, Washington and requires the employee be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

Manages overall communication strategy: Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that advances business priorities, strengthens organizational alignment, and builds engagement. Create and evolve compelling narratives that connect vision, strategy, and impact, ensuring consistency across channels, audiences, and leadership voices. Establish scalable communications frameworks, rhythms, and best practices that enable a newly forming organization to operate with clarity and purpose.

Build narratives that inform, inspire, and drive action:  Translate complex business, technology, and organizational priorities into clear, memorable stories that resonate with employees, customers, and external stakeholders. Continuously refine messaging based on feedback, organizational needs, and business priorities, helping leaders communicate with authenticity, confidence, and impact during periods of growth and change.

Leverage insights to continuously improve impact:  Use data, employee feedback, and communication analytics to measure effectiveness, identify opportunities, and refine strategies. Establish meaningful success metrics, evaluate outcomes, and translate insights into actions that improve engagement, strengthen organizational understanding, and increase communications effectiveness over time.

Develops and maintains executive platform/voice:  Serve as a trusted advisor to the M365 Core leadership team, shaping executive communications, presence, and engagement strategies. Build and maintain a consistent executive voice across internal and external channels, strengthening credibility, visibility, and organizational alignment. Partner across stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities, navigate complex communications moments, and elevate the organization's reputation through authentic and impactful leadership communications.

Drive customer, partner, and external engagement: Partner to develop communications strategies that strengthen relationships with customers, partners, and key industry stakeholders. Support executive participation in customer engagements, partner events, industry forums, and strategic briefings by developing compelling narratives, messaging, and content that reinforce Microsoft’s vision, innovation, and market leadership. Identify opportunities to elevate the organization's voice externally and strengthen connections between customer needs, partner feedback, and business priorities.

Create meaningful employee connection and organizational energy:  Design and lead employee communications strategies that foster transparency, engagement, and a shared sense of purpose. Establish communication rhythms, forums, and channels that encourage dialogue, strengthen culture, and help employees understand how their work contributes to the broader mission. Leverage new technologies and AI-powered tools to create more dynamic and scalable communication experiences.

Lead executive communications and thought leadership:  Oversee the development of high-impact executive communications, including keynote presentations, briefing materials, talking points, videos, social content, and leadership engagements. Elevate the executive platform through thoughtful storytelling, strategic content development, and coordinated communications plans that reinforce business priorities and organizational culture.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years specialized functional (e.g., retail, technology) experience.
  • 4+ years experience supporting senior executives in an executive communications role.
  • 3+ years experience working with social media platforms.
  • 6-8 years of experience in communications or a related role.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using data and insights to inform storytelling and content development.
  • Experience in creating and managing communications materials and initiatives. 

Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
