Join us to invest in yourself, your career, and the financial world.

The role:

SoFi is looking for a strategic leader to own and evolve our educational content program, with a focus on financial news literacy and newsletters — from big-picture vision to day-to-day execution. The Senior Content Strategist will be responsible for driving the direction of SoFi’s newsletter program, including a wide variety of campaigns and content programs connected to it. We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience managing a newsletter, content product, or editorial program as a business, not just as a publication.

If you love transforming vision into reality, thrive in complex cross-functional environments, and happily design operating models for new programs from scratch, this role is for you. Newsletters and educational email are one format in SoFi’s rich and evolving multimedia content engine, so overseeing this program requires multidisciplinary content marketing expertise.

You understand that a newsletter, email bootcamp, or fin lit curriculum must earn its place in a subscriber's inbox — and that doing so requires a deep understanding of your audience. You'll use audience insights and performance data to ensure every issue, feature, and supporting asset delivers genuine relevance and utility. You are an expert communicator, an entrepreneurial operator, and a data-literate strategist who knows how to measure what matters and use those insights to drive meaningful change.

Ideally you have experience with personal finance and investing focused content, with practice translating complex concepts into digestible stories across multiple formats. Fluency with AI-assisted tools is a requirement, as you'll design and operate workflows that use AI to accelerate research, sourcing, and production. Awareness of and connection with industry—content, media, and financial technology—will ensure SoFi’s content program is innovative and culturally aware.

You'll join a brand-oriented content team whose mission is to make financial knowledge and empowerment more accessible. In a world of misinformation, our goal is to deliver credible, clear, and compelling intelligence and insight.

What you’ll do: Strategy & Direction
  • Define and own the strategic vision for SoFi's newsletter program, setting a clear direction that balances audience value with business impact — and evolving that direction based on performance insights.
  • Build and maintain a compelling business case for the newsletter program; present it with authority to senior stakeholders, adapting your narrative for marketing leaders, product partners, and executives alike.
  • Develop and execute a subscriber growth strategy that spans organic, paid media, paid social, lifecycle marketing, and content syndication across external platforms — managing campaign oversight end-to-end from creative asset production to performance analysis and recommendations for next steps.
  • Leverage audience insights and performance data to ensure the newsletter consistently delivers relevance to our target readers, iterating on content strategy as those insights evolve.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the newsletter portfolio with the introduction of new content products, bringing creativity and innovation to the vision, planning and execution of these new ideas.
  • Identify opportunities for AI integration across content sourcing, creation, and distribution phases of workflow. Manage implementation, reporting, and iteration with vendors, technology partners, and core newsletter teams to maximize AI impact.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Build strong working relationships with product marketing, editorial, brand strategy, social, data science, lifecycle marketing, product, and design teams.
    • Product Marketing & Business Units:
      • Identify moments to integrate SoFi products into newsletters
    • Editorial & Creative:
      • Identify appropriate tone and approach for positioning products in the context of education rather than promotion
      • Submit briefs and work directly with the design team to generate custom creative; guide internal creative resources with clear direction and high aesthetic standards
    • Social & Paid Media:
      • Identify opportunities to amplify newsletter content on social channels and tap into community conversations
      • Design subscriber growth campaign opportunities with greatest ROI, clearly conveying newsletter program objectives to ensure deeply impactful results
    • Marketing Data Science:
      • Provide clear direction on newsletter objectives, including how OKRs and KPIs will reinforce newsletter’s value to business
      • Ensure newsletter infrastructure is set up to capture data required to fulfill newsletter strategy, and that data captured is being translated into usable insights for editorial and product marketing teams
    • Marketing Technology:
      • Ensure evolutions required to SoFi’s technology stack are accounted for in the product roadmap by representing newsletter requirements
    • External vendors:
      • Grow subscriber audiences with innovative third party tools
      • Integrate AI for content production efficiencies
      • Leverage content measurement & reporting resources
  • Provide oversight to the newsletter program’s operations, spanning editorial planning, production, and measurement.
    • Design a system of governance and review for the newsletter program, ensuring editorial workflows, compliance processes, executive reviews and production timelines run smoothly
    • Establish and oversee a structured A/B testing framework in partnership with lifecycle marketing; build a culture of experimentation and learning within the program
    • Set the operating model for new newsletter franchises, designing the blueprint for how cross-functional teams will collaborate to bring new content products to life

What you’ll need:

  • You are a strategic thinker and confident communicator who can distill complex ideas into clear, compelling documents and decks that move people to action.
  • You have 8+ years of experience in content strategy, brand journalism, or content marketing..
  • You have a proven track record of subscriber growth and audience development, with hands-on familiarity with paid media and paid social as distribution levers — not just organic editorial.
  • You are data-literate: you know how to define the right KPIs, partner with analytics teams, interpret performance dashboards, and translate findings into strategic decisions — including knowing what questions to ask when you don't have the answers yet.
  • You are a natural cross-functional operator who builds trust with stakeholders across disciplines — from engineers to brand designers to product marketers — and leads through influence when you have no direct authority.
  • You are entrepreneurial and adaptive: you parachute into unfamiliar territory, rapidly develop context, form a point of view, and move with confidence. You are not unnerved by ambiguity.
  • Ideally: You have experience with fintech, personal finance, investing, or a similarly complex category where audience trust and content credibility are hard-won.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred); 6+ years considered with demonstrated strategic leadership.
