About Bobyard
Construction is a trillion dollar industry that still runs on manual work. Contractors measure and count materials off drawings by hand, and it takes forever. Bobyard uses AI to automate takeoffs and estimates so bids get done 10x faster. We're Series A, backed by 8VC, Primary, and Pear, and revenue is doubling quarter over quarter.
About the role
As our first data hire, you will lay the foundation for our company-wide data architecture and analytics strategy. You will design, build, and maintain our data pipeline and warehousing infrastructure, centralize fragmented data sources, and establish reliable metric definitions across the organization. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional leadership to deliver actionable insights, build high-impact dashboards, and enable data-informed decision-making at every level of the business.
What you'll do
Architect, scale, and maintain our central data warehouse and scalable ELT/ETL pipelines across internal systems
Design robust data models and data transformation layers to turn raw operational data into clean, production-ready datasets
Establish, document, and standardize core business metrics and KPIs to ensure organizational alignment
Deliver executive- and operational-level reporting, performance tracking, and analytical models for company leadership
Develop intuitive BI dashboards and self-service analytics tools for teams across business operations, product, and strategy
Partner directly with key stakeholders across departments to identify analytical needs and answer strategic business questions
Write clean, efficient, and well-tested SQL and code to automate ingestion, data quality monitoring, and reporting
Implement automated data validation, quality assurance tests, and governance practices as our data ecosystem matures
What we're looking for
5+ years in analytics, analytics engineering, or business intelligence
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
Advanced SQL and hands-on data modeling with dbt or an equivalent transformation framework
Python for ETL and ELT work — API pulls, scripts, scheduled jobs
You've built a data warehouse and its pipelines from scratch at a company under a few hundred people
Real fluency in a B2B revenue funnel — you know what pipeline, CAC, and net revenue retention mean and why they move
You can define a metric, defend the definition, and get a sales leader to adopt it
Nice to have
BigQuery or a GCP data stack
HubSpot as a source system
Experience building financial or data controls, or supporting a SOC 2 audit
You were the first data hire somewhere before
