About the role
At Drivemode, a part of Honda, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Analytics leader to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in analyzing vast datasets to uncover profound insights that drive impactful product decisions, optimize operational efficiency, and elevate the overall user experience across our mobile apps, in-car infotainment systems, and beyond.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and other Honda stakeholders to translate complex business challenges into actionable, data-driven solutions. This position is instrumental in propelling Honda to the forefront of the electric vehicle and the future of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
Standard working hours are Monday through Friday. To support collaboration with our Japan-based teams, core hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM PT from Monday through Wednesday. The team works in-office on Mondays and Tuesdays. Thursdays and Fridays offer more flexibility, particularly in the evenings, while remaining full working days
What you do
- Analyze data and deliver actionable insights to create the most delightful and user-friendly mobile apps and in-car digital experiences globally.
- Forge strong partnerships with data analysts and data engineers at Honda Japan headquarters, American Honda, and other regional offices. Collaboratively define key performance indicators (KPIs), contribute to building robust data infrastructure, implement data points, and enhance the overall data and analytics ecosystem.
- Assume leadership in developing and maintaining critical metrics and dashboards for the product team.
- With other analysts and team members at both Drivemode and Honda, championing a data-driven culture and disseminating valuable insights throughout the company.
- Occasional travel to the Los Angeles area and Tokyo, Japan (5%-10%) may be required
What we are looking for
- 7+ years of proven success as a Data Analyst/Scientist, data-driven Product Manager, or a similar role, with a strong track record of optimizing consumer-facing products, particularly mobile apps. Experience in both large corporations and startups is highly preferred.
- A proven collaborator with a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders. You possess the strategic thinking of a product manager and the user-centric mindset of a designer.
- Deep expertise in SQL, Python, and/or R, as well as proficiency in analytics tools such as Amplitude, Datadog, Tableau, Power BI, and Firebase.
- Experience with A/B testing methodologies, statistical modeling techniques, and machine learning applications is a significant advantage.
- Expertise in data modeling, data engineering, and ETL processes to be able to effectively work with data lake/ data warehouse teams to gather and utilize data/ logs from them.
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degrees preferred) in data science, computer sciences, statistics, or engineering.
- People management experience is not required but preferred.
- Fluency in Japanese and work experience with Japanese corporations are big pluses
