Title: Senior Database
Engineer — Oracle & Distributed Data Systems (Cleared)
The environment: A
mission-critical, geographically distributed system serving the Intelligence
Community — one where interface, performance, and security tolerances are tight
and non-negotiable. You'll be a database engineering voice on a complex
program, not a ticket-taker.
What you'll own:
- Relational and non-relational data architecture —
design, build, and document
- Data movement at scale: replication across
distributed nodes, concurrent access, failover and high-availability
engineering
- Performance work: tuning, capacity and performance
planning, issue investigation through resolution
- Backup, recovery, and user administration
- Schema translation — turning requirements and raw
data into usable structures via ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros
- Requirements analysis, risk assessment, and
alternatives analysis for system-level problems
- Long- and short-term database requirements for admin
and design
Requirements
How you'll work: Embedded
in an Agile team, interfacing with systems, software, test, and information
assurance engineers. You'll contribute to Program Increment Planning and
collaborate daily with technical peers and customer POCs.
Clearance (hard gate): Active
TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph through the MD customer. Last poly within 6
years. No CCAs.
Experience bar:
- 10+ years as a DBA on similar-scope programs
- Oracle SQL/PLSQL plus general SQL — strong
- Exposure to relational and NoSQL engines (PostgreSQL,
MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Scripting: Python, Perl, Bash/Linux shell, and/or
JavaScript
- Java as a language baseline
- Technical bachelor's, or 4 years additional DBA
experience in lieu
Nice to have: SAFe
methodology or Agile team experience; Cassandra; MongoDB.
Some
travel to MD for quarterly planning, if not local.
Benefits
Comprehensive benefit package that
includes 3 weeks paid time off, 10+ Paid Holidays, medical/dental coverage, STD,
LTD, Life Insurance, AD&D, 401k with up to 4% match, and end of year profit
sharing.
