The Senior DevOps Engineer will support the Texas Health and Human Services Commission on its cloud and data platform initiative. This role is responsible for building, maintaining, and securing scalable data and AI pipelines within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The engineer will provide end-to-end DevOps support, encompassing CI/CD pipeline management, Python-based automation, and Snowflake administration. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, governed, and performant cloud and data solutions. This is a hybrid role based in Austin, Texas, with onsite presence required on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git to support continuous integration and delivery of cloud and data solutions.
- Administer and optimize the Snowflake data platform, including access control configuration (RBAC, least privilege), performance tuning, and warehouse management.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate data engineering tasks, pipeline workflows, and operational processes.
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and related orchestration tools.
- Architect and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes that support cloud data integration across the Azure environment.
- Integrate AI/ML concepts and platform capabilities into the broader cloud and data infrastructure.
- Configure and manage Azure Monitoring and Log Analytics, including centralized logging, alerting, dashboarding, and security monitoring using audit logs and metrics.
- Enforce security, governance, and compliance standards across cloud and data environments, including RBAC policies and observability frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver reliable platform solutions.
- Analyze operational procedures and system capabilities to recommend and implement improvements to existing cloud and data workflows.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 years of experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- 8 years of hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
- 8 years of experience administering Snowflake, including access control and security (RBAC, least privilege), performance tuning, and warehouse management.
- 8 years of proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data engineering tasks.
- 8 years of experience with containerization and orchestration, with AKS preferred.
- 8 years of experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and cloud data integration.
- 8 years of demonstrated understanding of AI/ML concepts and platform integration.
- 8 years of experience with Azure Monitoring and Log Analytics, including centralized logging, alerting, dashboarding, and security monitoring using audit logs and metrics.
- 8 years of experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience implementing AI-enabled data platforms, such as Snowflake Cortex or ML pipelines.
- 3 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- 3 years of knowledge of data security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- 3 years of prior experience in public sector or large enterprise environments.
- 2 years of demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- 2 years of experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- 2 years of demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to best practices.
- 2 years of exposure to Snowflake AI and Cortex features.
- 1 year of strong communication and documentation skills.
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must already reside in Texas and be local to Austin; out-of-state candidates or those planning to relocate will not be considered.
- Interviews will be conducted in person.
- The selected candidate may be required to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as coordinated and pre-approved by Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
- All travel, per diem, parking, and living expenses are the responsibility of the candidate.
