Who you are

Metropolis is seeking an Assistant Controller to play a key leadership role in the execution of corporate accounting operations. • Drive automation and AI adoption in reconciliations, reporting, and consolidation
  • Help lead the accounting process and team through an upcoming ERP system upgrade and conversion
  • Build, mentor, and lead a growing accounting team, managing at least 3 direct reports within a team of approximately 8 accountants while instilling accountability and high performance
  • Partner closely with cross-functional leads across Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Operations, and Client Reporting to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Manage team operational responsibilities while executing hands-on individual accounting tasks in a dynamic environment
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership
  • Experience managing a team of at least 5 people
  • Prior experience working for, or auditing, public companies required to follow Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge in U.S. GAAP and consolidations
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and leveraging technology/automation with a foundation of ICFR
  • Hands-on leadership experience building close-to-reporting processes in complex environments, with an emphasis on automation and updating systems to a new ERP
  • Experience utilizing AI tools such as Claude and Gemini to enhance accounting and close processes
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, building from the ground up, and balancing team management with hands-on individual contribution
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies
While not required, these are a plus:
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA
  • Relevant professional certifications beyond CPA
