The Senior Director of Business Development Strategy is a key member of the senior leadership team within Pillsbury’s Strategy & Marketing Department. Working closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, Global Business Leaders and others, this individual will lead the development and execution of strategic business development and marketing initiatives (e.g., firmwide business development campaigns, new offerings to meet changing client needs, cross-practice/industry business development) to drive client demand and revenue generation. They will collaborate with our partners and leaders to identify new avenues for growth, develop and implement effective Growth Plans, and continuously improve our win rate as we pursue new business.

Responsibilities include:

Global Business Development Team – Manage and develop team of business development professionals, who are high-performing, adaptable, business-minded, capable of sound judgment, and value in-person collaboration.

Business Unit and Practice Group Growth – Partner with Global Business Leaders, Practice Group Leaders and other partners to develop Growth Plans and revenue growth strategies tailored to each group. Work with business units and practice groups to develop integrated solutions for clients.

New Business Pursuits – Monitor legal industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs to inform business development strategies and identify emerging opportunities. Contribute to pursuit of high-profile opportunities, including development of effective proposals and presentations.

Market Positioning & Branding – Oversee and develop initiatives to build the firm’s brand in targeted areas, including impact events, thought leadership campaigns, directory rankings and sponsorships.

Co-Marketing and Referral Relationships – Oversee and develop initiatives to build relationships with potential referral sources, including other professional services firms.

Business Development Coaching – In collaboration with our Talent Development team, develop business development coaching and mentoring programs for partners and associates.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in marketing or related field with 15+ years of relevant and progressive experience in professional services business development. Strong supervisory skills and experience in fostering a strong team culture are required. Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and verbal and written communication skills are critical to success as are collegial, collaborative, and team player attributes. Person must be a strategic self-starter who thrives on leading numerous high visibility projects in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating sound judgment, discretion and flexibility to change course where appropriate.

Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.

California, New York and Washington DC Pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience, is $325,000 - $400,000.
