The Director, Cloud Operations leads cloud operations and production support functions, ensuring system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for stabilizing and improving production environments while driving operational discipline, automation, and measurable service improvements. May also lead targeted transformation initiatives where foundational capabilities or processes need to be established.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Production Operations & Support

  • Own end-to-end production support across all customer-facing and internal platforms
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and recoverability of systems
  • Establish and enforce incident management, problem management, and change control disciplines
  • Drive measurable improvements in uptime, MTTR, and change success rates

Cloud & Infrastructure Leadership

  • Lead multi-cloud and/or hybrid cloud operations strategy
  • Ensure secure, scalable, and cost-optimized infrastructure environments
  • Drive infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption
  • Oversee capacity planning, performance optimization, and resiliency engineering

Systems Engineering & Networking

  • Oversee systems engineering standards, patching, configuration management, and platform lifecycle management
  • Lead enterprise networking strategy, reliability, and modernization initiatives
  • Reduce single points of failure and operational risk exposure

Operational Excellence & Transformation

  • Build and mature SRE and observability practices
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation frameworks
  • Establish operational KPIs and executive dashboards
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to improve production readiness

Leadership & Culture

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing operations organization
  • Establish clear accountability, ownership, and performance standards
  • Foster a culture of urgency, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Eight (8) to Twelve (12)+ years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or operations, systems engineering, or production operations.
  • Three (3) to five (5)+ years of people leadership experience
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale cloud environments
  • Experience leading transformation or large-scale operational change
  • Deep expertise in AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments
  • Experience leading production support and cloud environments at scale.
  • Experience improving operational stability, service performance, and automation practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, production operations, and platform support.
  • Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management disciplines.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, networking, observability, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Skill in leading teams, driving operational improvements, and managing cross-functional partnerships.
  • Ability to improve reliability, performance, and operational discipline in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
  • This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of the workday
  • This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
  • The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
